6 years 55 million with a club option for 2013.

How do you think that will impact Aramis' decision regarding the opt-out clause, and what will Hendry do now?

My opinion: the price for Aramis is now 5 years $55M.

Do you really think ARam will want almost $2 million more per year than Wright is getting now? IMO he's not too smart if he's hoping to get more than probably the best thirdbaseman in the game right now.

Agreed. I'd have to take Wright over ARod right now, if it were a one-for-one option. As much as I love Aramis, he isn't as good as Wright, he's more injury prone, his defense isn't as good, and there's questions about his hustle and attitude at times. I think 4 yrs @ 36 mil is more appropriate for Aramis.

When comparing Wrights new contract to what Aramis could get, you have to consider that Wright still has a few arbitration years left, in which the 9 million average would be a considerable raise. Anyone know how the new Wright contract is structured and how many arby years were bought out?

I don't know how it's broken down, but Wright would've been a renewal next year, arbitration eligible in '08-'10, and obviously a FA in '11 and '12.

Mets signed third baseman David Wright to a six-year, $55 million contract.

The 23-year-old Wright gets a $1.5 million signing bonus and salaries of $1 million next year, $5 million in 2008, $7.5 million in 2009, $10 million in 2010, $14 million in 2011 and $15 million in 2012. There is a $1 million buyout if the Mets do not exercise a $16 million option for the 2013. The Mets don't have the potential savings here that they did in the Jose Reyes deal, but since Wright is about as safe as an investment as anyone in the game, it looks like a good signing. They're also getting two or three years of free agency, which is one more than they have with Reyes

Wow that's a majorly backloaded contract. What is the Mets' payroll like? IMO that may handcuff them down the road.

They are paying him cheap salaries for the first few years because he would still be under team control during those years even if this contract wasn't signed. They're buying out his few first years of free agency during the last few years of the deal.

That's normal for a pre-free agency extension of this length. It's similar to what he would've gotten if he wouldn't have signed the extension.

I think Wright should make more cause Adrian Beltre's making 5/64 and Wright's way better than him.

HEY!!! I used that exact point why Ramirez should use the escape clause and all y'all just said Beltre was coming off a career year. All garbage.

"all y'all"? are you really from the Chicagoland area?

By the way, I think his Beltre reference was a way of mocking you.

Yeah, I'll second the mocking part.

Is there any reason why you didn't include Carlos Beltran's numbers?
