Dusty is an idiot. A 2-4 performance with a homer and 2 RBI should not get Murton benched.

 

But going 2 for 3 with a homer, walk, and 2 RBI is enough to get Pagan benched?

 

Exactly-right now it's hard to argue with either of them being played.

For once I'm not so sure Dusty is wrong. In an ideal universe Murton and Pagan would play as much as possible but Jones is the rightfielder and you can't just tell him to sit on the bench for long periods of time to give the kids more PT. Maybe you can sit him more in September, but I don't think there's any more Dusty can do.

Murton's the only one who is trying to win a starting spot for next season.

The last curve was left up, but it wasn't over the heart of the plate. Nice 1-2-3 for Rich.

 

By the way, the Pirates have done pretty well against lefties this year. They rank 4th in the NL against lefties with a .792 OPS.

Very good inning by Hill..he went right after those Pirate hitters, as well he should. The Pirates lineup is so unbalanced that you need to be careful with a couple hitters, and just come in and throw strikes to everyone else-keep it up Rich!
