ESPN News reports the Yankees traded Shawn Chacon to the Pirates. No news yet on who they got in return.

Wilson.

Which one?

Craig.

Who is the minor league pitcher we got for Todd Walker? What a waste of a very good second baseman. It is also interesting that Philips said the Fathers wanted Walker to play third for them. Interesting, considering he is regarded as a mediocre fielder by many, whether true or not.

How do you figure a waste? Todd Walker is very mediocre 2B (average fielding at best, little power, no speed, .280 hitter). What do you think they could get for him?

He came into the league as a 3B with the Twins and they have Barfield at 2B. My guess is they figure they have nothing to lose putting him at third.

That .350 OBP for the last 2 years, with the .800+ OPS is better than mediocre for a 2B, but whatever.

And here i thought this deadline would be quiet.

2B I would rather have than Todd Walker: Utley, Figgins, Uggla, Weeks, Phillips, Durham, Iguchi, Roberts, Freel, Barfield, J. Lopez, L. Castillo, Giles, Biggio, Loretta, Polanco, Vidro, Grudz, Kinsler, Kent, Cano, Cantu.

THAT is what I mean by mediocre.

Walker was bad this year, but he was a very affordable quality 2B for this club for the past 2 years. If you're basing it on this year alone, Walker's near the bottom. But during his time in Chicago, he was very solid and very cheap. His .350 OBP should have been used better by Dusty.

FRANKLY, the list of players you'd PREFER to Walker doesn't prove anything regarding HIS value, other than your OPINION of him.

I keep seeing on the espn chat that the Mets may have gotten linebrink - anyone hear anything about this?

Supposedly, the Mets turned around and dealt the newly acquired Perez and Heath Bell for Linebrink.

EDIT: per Rotoworld-

Scott Linebrink-R- Padres Jul. 31 - 5:34 pm et

Scott Linebrink wasn't traded to the Mets or any other team prior to Monday's deadline.

The rumored deal of Oliver Perez and Heath Bell for Linebrink likely was discussed, but it wasn't finalized. Linebrink will stay with the Padres as a setup man. There's no way he'll go in a waiver deal.

WOW...posters on this board really think the Cubs have a lot of talent to trade judging by what they think we should get for guys like Maddux, Walker, Nevin etc...

And trading Aramis creates a much bigger hole than it fills.

There is going to be a lot of unhappy posters here at 3:00 pm today.

Not that I'm happy about it but...I told you so!
