I remember last year a lot of us felt we let one get away in Sisco, but no one talks about him here anymore. I looked up his stats and they are fugly.

7.32 ERA, and 10 + in day games. Anyone know what happened to him this year? Is it that he should still be in the minors but because the Royals are essentially a minor league team his is in the majors?

Funny how everyone was crucifying Hendry for him last year, but not a peep this year. Just an observation.

I, for one, still wish he was back in the Cub system.

Kansas City was pretty stupid to keep him in the Major League pen.

Bingo.

They should have shipped Sisco back to the minors and let him work on being a starter, where he was most valuable.

The Cubs were idiots not for letting him go, but instead for letting him go in exchange for nothing. Sisco was still a highly rated prospect when they let him go (despite weight/motivation/production issues) and could have gotten something in return in a trade.

Just a thought: The jokes about Glendon's weight stopped being funny, oh, years ago. Where's Pedro's dead horse?

He shouldn't have been left unprotected, period. I think he was brought up too soon, and his struggles could at least be partly attributed to that.

It was still a dumb move by Hendry no matter what his numbers are this year.

First post. Take that with a grain of salt.

We were happy to get him two years back. But his failures shouldn't come as a surprise as his splits in Daytona and last year in KC are pretty identical. Buddy Bell likes to use him as a lefty specialist.

He'd probably be better off starting, but seeing as he gives up a lot of fly balls, and struggles with his control, that's not a good combo.

Basically, hes on a horrible, yet improving staff, and has been better of late. They might as well keep him around since no one else can get anyone out anyway.

Welcome to the forum, always good to have another team's fans here for their perspective. Especially one that can share our misery so well.

Who says the Cubs couldn't had gotten fair value for Sisco? We all assume that just because Hendry left him unprotected, doesn't he he didn't try and trade him. Maybe alot of people in baseball, didn't see much in Sisco, despite the 6'9.

I like to look at it this way...the Cubs dealt Andy Sisco for Angel Guzman. I'm stretching it to a limit, but hey....we got Guzman from the Royals "trash-heap" and they got Andy Sisco from our "trash-heap." so lets call it even, and stop saying Sisco had value, cause of right now, Sisco has no value WHATSOEVER.

Angel Guzman? Sorry but Angel has only been with the Cubs organization.

Guzman was signed by KC in '99 and was released b/c of arm troubles and then signed by the Cubs. I can't remember the difference from when KC released him and the Cubs picked him up, but it was less than a year.

Of course, I don't see how that relates to Sisco going Rule 5 more than several years later.

Sorry, my dead horse signal isn't working right...

Edited to remove Glendon's ugly mug.

Is that really a joke, or a pretty good point about the hypocrisy of the Cubs? Glendon's body shape and results are every bit as indicative of motivation problems as Sisco's, or Jerome Williams'. Why did Glendon get a fat contract when those guys more or less got tossed to the curb?

I don't know if any of you read the site mlbtraderumors.com, but they revisted the ill-fated Giants/Twins trade that netted Liriano and Nathan, and there was a line in there about a Sisco/Pierzinsky swap that nearly was... imagine that!!

Maybe he was in shape when he signed the contract and celebrated by going on an eating binge.

Honestly though, my guess is that Glen-done is given the benefit because (a) he is left-handed and (b) he is a veteran. You should know by now the way this organization works.

He was chubby and a terrible pitcher before he signed. I know how they operate, and it's pretty clear how hypocritical they are about things. Williams is fat, lazy and unmotivated, but Glendon is worthy of a multi-million dollar contract? Doesn't add up.
