they just put up a graphic that read (paraphrased):

Cub Excuses since 1945

- Billy Goat

- Black Cat

- Bartman

EXCUSES? I've not heard from a fan, cub player, or member of cub management that uses the idiotic curse as an excuse.

It's always the media or opposing fans who bring that crap up.

what gives?

It's a cover up! Even FSN Houston recognizes that the Astros aren't the real "Killers B's".

Wow, how unprofessional. I'd expect that kinda stuff from a White Sox fan, not a professional TV broadcast.

It pisses me off, but you know what? They can say whatever they want until we field a team that wins a WS!

They don't really have any room to talk since they've NEVER won the WS.

Can anyone actually prove the Cubs have ever won a world series? I mean...there is probably nobody alive that remembers it, and I know they didn't have video back then. :?

A new born infant at the time(1908) would now be 98 years old. So someone living who is 105 years old now(7 years old at the time) might faintly remember. The key is finding someone 105 or older.

Chance are if they are 105 or older they don't have much of a memory.

When I was in Chicago in June at Wrigley, I sat next to a man who said he was there for the last Cubs WS game against the Tigers in 1945. That's not exactly the last time they won one, but I did think it was pretty cool.

That's probably closer than any of us will ever get to see.

I saw a news article about some woman that, I think, lives in Washington who's 108 years old.

Well, played.

But no, not at this game!

My grandfather was born in 1890 and personally told me about the back to back world series by the Cubs. He's been dead since 1976 though. I have no reason to believe he was lying to me.

My grandfather was also born in 1890. He married my grandmother on the date that would have been the 7th game of the 1918 World Series, but alas, the CUBS managed to lose to Boston in 6. He recalled hearing of the 2 championships in '07 & '08, although he didn't arrive in this country until 1910. He was acquainted with the Wrigley family and did some work for them over the years, including designing PK's residence in Lake Geneva, and some minor renovations at the ball park. Interestingly enough, my geandfather also had occaision to meet Bill Veeck in the 70's, and was quite taken in with his engaging personality. He became quite a fan of the Sox before he died. I never did understand that.

sounds like Fox Sports Net to me. that whole network is full of hacks.

too bad they didnt do a list of excuses for the Astros, such as:

-Bagwells shoulder

-Biggio and "The Hill"

-Larry Deiker

-Santana, Guillen, and who else??

Professional TV broadcast? Maybe it has something to do with that bitter ex-Cubs broadcaster, Milo?
