Probable Starters:

Iowa: LHP Rich Hill (6-1, 1.81 ERA, 84.2 IP, 107/19, 0.86 WHIP) @ LHP Chris George (1-3, 5.22 ERA)

West Tenn: RHP Federico Baez

Daytona (game 1): RHP Mark Holliman (6-5, 3.65 ERA, 93.2 IP, 87/40, 1.21 WHIP)

Daytona (game 2): LHP Phil Norton (1-0, 0.93 ERA, 9.2 IP, 6/3, 1.03 WHIP)

Peoria: RHP Jesse Estrada (5-1, 4.28 ERA, 48.1 IP, 22/16, 1.51 WHIP) vs. RHP Vince Bongiovanni (4-0, 1.86 ERA)

Boise: LHP Mark Pawelek (0-3, 5.11 ERA, 12.1 IP, 9/8, 6 HBP, 1.87 WHIP) vs. RHP Inoel Deaza (2-1, 2.97 ERA)

Mesa: RHP Eli Diaz* (--)

*Take Mesa's probable starter with a grain of salt as they shuffle their pitcher from the rotation to the pen with frequency. At times, this is nothing more than just a best guess.

Peoria is up 3-2 in the 5th. YUSUF hit a 2-run shot (#8 of the season). Estrada has given up 1 earned (2 total) in 5 IP.

Pawelek has a shutout first (but gives up a hit and a walk), it's scoreless in the middle of the first in Boise.

Matt Maredo and Rafael Dolis 9 runs in the 6th, 7th and 8th. The Brewers now lead Mesa 12-7.

Peoria up 4-3 after 7. Norwood joined YUSUF in the HR column with a solo shot.

Boise is up 2-1 thanks to a Matulia triple, Colvin RBI infield single, Canzler single and a Joseph RBI single. Pawelek: 4 IP, 1 ER, 2 H, 3/2, HBP. Brett Jackson now pitching in the 5th. The run Pawelek gave up came on a HR.

Mesa loses 12-7.

Peoria lost 6-4. Estrada went 5 giving up 4 hits, 2 runs, 1 earned run, 1 BB, and struck out 6. Evenson pitched an inning and 2/3's allowing 2 hits, 1 ER, 1 BB, and struck out 2. He allowed a homer. Mueller was charged with the loss as he pitched 2/3's of an inning allowing 1 hit, 2 ER's, and 3 BB's. Avery pitched to two batters and retired both of them. Koerber pitched the 9th allowing 2 hits, 1 run, 0 earned runs, 1 BB, and struck out 1. Carter was 1/4 with a 2-run homer. Ryan Norwood was 1/3 with a solo homer and a walk. Jesus Valdez went 2/4 with a double and an RBI. Malone, Lalli, and Lilly each had doubles.

Game 1 for the D-Cubs went final...a very crazy game, especially the 1st inning. Palm Beach scored 6 in the top of the first, but Daytona scored 12 (   ) in the bottom half of the first, cruising to a 14-7 win. Sounds almost like a Jaguars-Dolphins game. Holliman made it out of the first and did decent after the 1st: 5 IP, 8 hits, 7 ER's, 2 BB's, 2 K's, and allowed a homer. Layden pitched 2 perfect innings of relief, including striking out one. Ryan Harvey had a huge game going 2/4 with a Grand Slam, a double, 7 RBI's, and 2 runs scored. Craig went 1/2 with a double, 2 RBI's, 1 BB, and 3 runs scored. Johnathan Mota had 2 hits. Every player in the lineup had at least 1 hit this afternoon.

Boise up 2-1 in the 6th.

Boise is still up 2-1 in the 8th, but Vancouver has runners at 2nd and 3rd and 1 out..

Oooo, Vancouver tries a suicide squeeze but the batter misses and the Canadian baserunner is out at home. But then, the ump rules it was a foul ball and everyone's safe.

Ugh, Maestri strikes out Klug swinging but the pitch gets away for a WP and the tying run scores. The strikeout victim goes all the way to second, so runners once again at 2nd and 3rd and still 1 out. And now an IBB will load the bases with 1 out. Maestri gives up the lead on a sac fly and then gets out of the inning. Vancouver leads it 3-2.

Rain delay in Mobile. Baez will be pitching for the Diamond Jaxx. Mathes has a groin injury. He should be ready to pitch in his next turn in the rotation.

Thanks, Ron.

In the bottom of the 8th, Boise is threatening (with one out):

Matulia singled.

Colvin blooped a single, Matulia to second.

Matulia stole third base, Colvin stole second.

Lansford walks (duh), bases loaded.

Russ Canzler strikes out swinging on a 1-2 count. Two outs.

Alfred Joseph bloops a flyball to the shortstop who catches it but drops it after he collides with the second baseman. Matulia and Colvin score, Lansford goes to third and Joseph to second. Boise now up 4-3.

Elvin Puello grounds out, 3-1.

Daytona down 4-2 in the bottom of the 4th. Matt Craig hit his 10th homer in the 1st.

Jaxx are up 2-0 in the bottom of the 2nd on a leadoff homer by EPatt, his 6th, and an RBI double by Dope in the 1st.

A 10-pitch first with a pair of Ks for Hill.

Pie fouls out to third on a 2 out, 3-2 pitch with the bases loaded to end Iowa's 2nd.

Well, Hill is dominating again... good thing he's in the minors!!!

is the only reason that hill is still in the minors is that dusty doesnt like him? maybe they are waiting for his era to go below 1.00 before they bring him up again. they have got to dump maddux soon and give hill a real shot again.

one of the more interesting things to see at the Chiefs game was watching 7'1" Ryan Doherty pitch. After the game, Ryan Norwood was saying Doherty wasn't that fast (less than 90 on the fastball), but his height meant that the pitch came so much more quickly that it was tough to pick up. It was kinda crazy, because with his stride and long arms, the ball is practically half-way home before he even lets go.

BTW, it was freaking *hot* at the game.

Well Rusch is the real one who should be dumped, but yeah, it's absolutely pointless to have him in the minors at this point. He isn't going to learn anything new there.

Now that is lanky.

Hill with only 9 Ks through 5. Disappointing.

I-Cubs lead 3-0.

i agree about rush be he isnt in the rotation now and hill needs to be starting if/when he is called up.
