According to Paul Sullivan, Jacque Jones used the bottom of the ninth inning to stand at the top of the steps and get into an argument with fans. They jarred back and forth until security finally escorted the fans from from Wrigley. Sullivan was very critical of Baker and the coaching staff for allowing this to happen. He said that they had to be aware of the situation considering it was more than just a momentary exchange.

Todd Walker took issue with the fact that both Dusty Baker and Bob Brenly said that Walker bobbled the ball preventing a double play from occurring. Sullivan said this is very reminiscent of the Steve Stone situation. Walker went and watched video specifically to hear Brenly's call on the play.

NOTE: Sullivan explained all of this on Chicago Tribune Live on CSN. The replay is on at 1:00am cst for those interested.

I'm really getting sick and tired of this team being unable to take the abuse for sucking. Get mad all you want about stuff being thrown onto the field, because that is completely uncalled for. But if a fan is telling you you're bad, and you're 20 games under, you really don't have much of a choice but to shut up and take it. Because let's face it. If you're 20 under, you DO suck.

You guys suck, just shut up, continue sucking and try not to make yourselves look live even more of an embarassment to the organization.

I'm sick of this crap. Look at the turnover from the 2004 team and there are STILL events like this going on. It's obvious that our braindead management is allowing this to occur.

Dusty wasn't aware of his son almost being trampled at home plate during the playoffs, how can anyone expect him to keep an eye on the right fielder?

Its a good thing Hendry said last night that he is not policing the club, wouldn't want someone to actually take responsibility and prevent the Cubs from being the laughing stock of baseball. ](*,)

Besides he couldnt see that part of the dugout from where he was sitting

Here we go with the announcer crap again. I'm getting really sick of all of these morons crying, and what really gets me aggravated is how that doofus in the dugout doesn't do anything to get these no-talent bums to concentrate on the play on the field.

I've also read reports that Lee called out his teammates once again, and said they were playing "flat." If this is true, Hendry has got to take control.

Hendry will surely take control by trading that cancer Lee

He's still "evalutating".

Don't make Jones mad. He might start to not do well against lefties.

It's times like this I wish I had all my Calvin and Hobbes scanned and archived so I could post the one where Calvin says "I'm not playing with a full deck", and Hobbes goes "that's been apparent for quite a while", then a pause, then Calvin says "HEY!". That would've been cool.

Lack. Of. Accountability.

This is why this team is where it is. Nobody does anything wrong, and if they do, it's always someone else's fault.

Bingo.

Wow...Sad, so very sad...I thought this problem was solved in 2004.

i don't know what would have given you that idea. the same idiots are in charge now that were in charge then.

Manager Dusty Baker called it a "perfect potential double-play ball" but said the timing was off because Walker "bobbled the ball."

The result was an errant throw from shortstop Ronny Cedeno, coming across the bag, allowing two more runs to score.

"That was a big play," Baker said, "because it would've [stayed] 3-2 instead of 5-2. Would've been a totally different ballgame."

Bobble? Not so, Walker said.

"Y'all need to go look at the replay. … It kind of handcuffed me, but it didn't stick in my glove and I didn't bobble it," he said.

So what happened?

"I got a little tough short hop there," Walker said. "I think Bob [brenly] mentioned on TV I had trouble [getting it out of my glove]. I didn't have trouble getting it out of my glove. It was just a tough hop. We got the play at second and could've got the guy at first too. That was a tough deal, but you'll have to ask Ronny about that."

Cedeno was asked if Walker bobbled the ball and affected his timing.

"Yes," Cedeno replied. "In that situation, we have to go real quick."

Maybe Todd Walker is trying to talk himself into a quick exit off of the team. Talk about not being able to shut your mouth. Add Walker to the list of players I can't wait for the Cubs to get rid of.

I know I hate me some productive players.

Seriously though, a player's media interaction should not impact their status on the team.
