Possible reasons for improvement in the Bears offense this year:

- 2nd season in offensive scheme

- Offensive line is returning, continuity is very important on the o-line

- Grossman-Griese 1-2 instead of Orton being not so good for most of the games

- Young receivers improving, Berrian wasn't healthy last year until late and was great in the playoff game and Bradley was improving when he got hurt

- Ced Ben in camp and ready for this year, he could be more talented then Jones, and Jones fell off a little bit in the middle of last year, having Benson ready from week 1, even if he doesn't start, could easily mean more backfield production, Adrian Peterson also had a great game last year and is the 3rd stringer

Yeah, I know a lot of us were disappointed in the draft, but really the key was keeping everyone together. The Bears are young enough to actually get better. However, I do worry about Hillenbrand, Vasher, and the DEs repeating their seasons from last year.

How many injuries did the Bears have last season?

Pro-Bowl SS. Nickelback. Starting QB. All WRs but Muhammad. OLine injuries here and there.

The Bears were pretty healthy last year, but it's not like they were invincible. Mike Brown and Azumah were huge losses. Grossman isn't great, but he is miles better than Orton. Bradley and Berrian never played at the same time.

offense - some offensive line problems, quarterback in pre-season, rookie first round running back, rookie second round receiver, third receiver, Muhammed was banged up all year, fullback, second tightend.

defense - not alot, but a very important one, Mike Brown.

edit - forgot about Zoom, and I think Peanut was banged up all year.

Grossman, Mike Brown, Ruben Brown, Benson, Ogunleye, Mark Bradley, Chris Harris, Terrence Metcalf, Hunter Hillenmeyer, Bryan Johnson, and Ian Scott to name a few. It wasn't a terrible year in terms of injuries, but losing Grossman really hurt the offense. The defense didn't have many major injuries, but a lot of guys missed some time.

the three of us putting all these names and positions together, injuries were worse than I remember and they came out of it pretty ok.

sure woulda been nice to have a healthy Brown over the top in the playoffs though.

just chuckling at Hllenbrand. I know what you meant.

I actually thought the DEs had a bit of a down season, as did Tommie Harris.

Vash, I'm confident he'll repeat, and the entire offseason was dedicated to depth at the position it seems.

Heh. I didn't even catch that. Hillenmeyer. I agree the DEs had a down year, but they did have a handful of big games each. Their lack of consistency makes me worry that they may have more down days than up. I don't agree on Harris, though. Tommie had one of the top 3 years for any DT in the game. He had an excellent season.

I had no expectation of the Bears winning that game, nor do I think the coaching staff prepared for that game with any sort urgency. I wished the Bears made a better showing, but to me that game was no big wup.

Lovie basically said afterwards that he didn't really care about the game (not in those words). You don't often hear that from a coach.

Whether Lovie or the rest of the fans cared, you guys got a good ol' fashion ass kicking in that game, complete with your superstar getting plowed into the end zone. I like to see the Bears do well, but that was an embarrassing effort. I thought my Dad was going to break something (he's a die hard Bears fan).

One thing I'm always proud of is that I can remember MY team winning a superbowl. Bears winning the superbowl, I was all of 8 months old and too young to know any better. My friends all have the same detriment facing them: still awaiting a winner.

Its okay, we all know Urlacher is a far superior athlete to Bettis :)

I'm proud that I've seen my team win four superbowls. One when I was five and three during my twenties.

I knew Halas was a great coach, but i didn't realize HOW dominant he was until i looked up the bears on wiki...

324-151-31 overall record in a little over 40 years (split up into 4 ten year segments) with 6 NFL championships, jeez!

Speaking of Halas, how does a man with sooo much football butt-kickery built into his genes end up having descendants that are comparatively horrible at running/owning a football team?

Urlacher will be the better player when all is said in done. Let's be honest, Bettis averaged 3.9 YPC for the course of his carreer. That's awful.

Bettis has been over since 1997. He had 3 "great" years surrounded by 10 mediocre ones.

The Raiders won the Super Bowl 10 months before I was born.
