If it's any consolation, the season's over for every NL team not named the Mets. Ain't no way the Cards, Reds, 'Stros, Dodgers, et al, are even gonna compete when it comes time for the World Series.

I wouldn't be so sure. The Mets pitching leaves a lot to be desired. I think the NL is wide open for the taking.

Wasn't Weaver part of the Tiger team that was accused of sexually inappropriate behavior with flight attendants on their team charter? They were drunk and sexually harassing the female flight attendants. If I recall correctly Weaver was one of the main culprits.

 

I don't know for sure the outcome of that situation, but Weaver and Ponson on the team plane could be interesting.

The other shoe, in the form of Sidney Ponson, dropped today. Jeff Weaver arrived in the clubhouse this afternoon, and by MLB rules he had to be activated once he arrived. That meant a move was required.

 

The move, as many people expected, was that Sidney Ponson was designated for assignment -- the same thing that happened to Weaver with the Angels. The Cards now have 10 days to trade Ponson, release him or send him outright to the Minor Leagues. He'd have to accept being outrighted, which is extremely unlikely.

 

Weaver will throw a bullpen today. He'll probably throw a simulated game or perhaps a bullpen on Sunday, and get a start after the break.

I heard it was Weaver smoking pot in the restroom but not sexually harassing the attendants. I'm pretty sure the pot part is correct but not sure about the rest. Correct me if I'm wrong.
