Since this is one of the worst Cubs teams (record wise) I can remember ,I am looking forward to College Football a little earlier then I normally would. I have not given up on the Cubs but realistically I know they are garbage this year.

I think my Iowa Hawkeyes could make some real noise this year. Although when it comes to my teams this is how I feel things will turn out at the beginning of every year:

MLB: Cub win world series

NBA: Bulls win the NBA title

NHL: Minnesota Wild will win Stanley Cup

NFL: Bears will win the Super Bowl

NCAA BB: Iowa Hawkeyes will win the NCAA Championship

NCAA FB: Iowa Hawkeyes will win the BCS National Championship

So when it comes to my teams I am kink of an optimist as you can see.

Well any way how do some of you think your CFB teams will do this year.

The talk around here is that Bill Callahan can get 10 wins out of the Huskers thisyear. Assuming they avoid flat-out embarassing loses to conference rivals (see Tex. Tech and Kansas), unlike recent years, I see most Husker fans being very satisfied. Bring on the season!

Go Illinois! I'll be attending in the fall....not that my presence there will give them any hope.

I'm also an Ohio State fan, but everyone hates them. Hopefully the loss of the back 7 wont hurt them too much...but it will, and they will start off hot and somehow lose to Indiana or something, destroying their chances for the Fiesta Bowl.

I can see Florida State going undefeated this year, since their schedule is so weak. The biggest opposition will be against Miami, and the game on the road against NC State - two places where they always have trouble.

Of course, I could also see a 4 loss season again.

I really like Mizzou's chances in the North this year. I think at worst we should go 3-1 in non-conference, if not 4-0, and lose to OU, either Tech/A&M, and maybe Nebraska. Big question is gonna be the secondary I think, but we'll see. All I want is another Bowl game.

Agreed. Depending on how the offense comes together with a different focal point, and how well the secondary plays, I could see them being within a game or so of last year in either direction, with a chance for a miracle season. 7 home games this year is gonna be awesome.

What's the Stanley Cub?

Whoops, see I haven't completly given up on the Cubs. I still think of them doing something even if it is renaming the greatest trophy after them.

Agreed about home games. I'm pumped up about the Mississippi game. Hopefully we can get a large and rocking crowd.

Bill Callahan is the biggest joke of a coach in the history of football. Believe me, he will screw up your program. I guarantee it.

And yes, I am a Raiders fan.

Well, unfortunately UC Davis doesn't get to play Stanford this year. We'll still pound Sac State in the Causeway Classic by 30 like we usually do. Hopefully we'll pull out a victory over Cal Poly as well. Other than that, I just hope for another winning season (we currently have 36 consecutive winning seasons) since we aren't eligible for the postseason yet as it is our final transition year.

EDIT: And I will be pulling against Notre Dame as usual.

For the first time since the early 1990s, ND is almost unanimously a top 5 team in preseason, they have preseason 1st team All-Americas at two positions and leading candidates at many others, the best offensive mind in the sport coaching, a top 5 recruiting class coming in, etc. etc.

Forgive my perceived boasting, but the chance to talk about something GOOD happening with one of my teams is one I always have to take.

I'm really looking forward to Sept. 9th OSU @ UT. I wish I could make it to the game but I'll probably be out of the state and not even get to watch it.

One of my former students will be freshman on the ND squad this year. Granted he will not see playing time, but I'm forced to root for ND.

Demetrius Jones(QB).......so ND only has Brady Quinn not to mention they got the two other top freshmen quarterbacks coming in this season. So I may never get a chance to even see him play.

I was pumped about Jones's commit, but the fact that Zach Frazer and Evan Sharpley are both probably ahead of him on the depth chart, and with Jimmy Clausen waiting in the wings, probably means Jones will get the Holiday/Battle/Godsey/Clark treatment and moved to receiver, where I'm sure he could be a good one.

Penn State had an amazing season in 2005, but I think anything more than a 8-4 season (plus bowl game) is overly optimistic. Have to play ND, O$U on the road...

OSU is gonna be awesome this year. But having to play in Texas is gonna suck a lot. I hope Troy and Ginny return the favor from last year.

Im more excited about the Bears than Michigan football. A lot of the key players are returning. The big difference is a new defensive coordinator, who is hopefully and should more aggressive than his predecessor. The old guy was bashed as hard as Dusty is aroung here, The new offensive coordinator isnt really new, he's a retread from the past. Even though they won the National Championship with him at the helm, it was a pretty vanilla offense then.

The non-OSU highlight games are at ND and the very cool prime time under the lights game at PSU.
