Tejada is on the trading block again. O's looking for at least one starting pitcher and others. Rumor is that Tejada numers are suffering recently because of the possible inclusion in the Grimsley mess.

I think Cedeno has performed well enough to thnk that he will continue to develop into a very solid everyday player. Can't see a reason for the Cubs to pursue, given Tejada's production of late and his salary, and the likely player cost of a deal.

If Baker had Tejada at SS, Wright at third, Roberts at 2nd, Lee at 1st, Mauer at catcher and an OF of Vlad, Beltran and Dunn he would then have the horses to win. Until then just Tejada isn't quite enough.

Not with the question marks of Prior and Wood.

Well you have to have some excuses available when you fail.

I think these pitchers are worn out mentally because they know they can't give up any runs and the way this team fields it's just a huge drain on them IMO. Have they been good...no but they need some confidence and some runs and plays behind them would help. It's amazing what that does some times for a pitcher when they don't have to be perfect and the lift they would get with a little help.

Don't forget Pagan.

I continue to be somewhat shocked at how little Tejada is thought of 'round these parts.

I sure as hell would take him.

DITO, and twice on Sunday's.

Cedeno would be just as productive at 2B as he is at SS. This might somewhat of a stretch. But I could see him as a young Sandberg at second.

Oh I love Tejada. He's my biggest regret in the Hendry regime. I can understand not wanting to pay Beltran, Drew, and Magglio. I can understand not going after Vlad with Sosa and Alou on the books. But I can't fathom why Alex [expletive] Gonzalez stopped him from goign after Tejada.

As I have said many times before, if the Cubs aren't gonna value OBP, I hope they get good players who hit for a high enough average and power to not be a liability. I'm all for the Cubs adding one of Tejada, Soriano, or Carlos Lee. Not ideal players, but very good players. Who would help out this team.

Hendry would rather not eat a contract than win. It's too bad because he eats about everything else.

FWIW on the Fox Pregame Show, Ken Rosenthal said that he believes the White Sox will get Tejada in return for Uribe-pitcher-prospect.

He said they were even interested in the off season. I don't know if that is news or not. This is the first time I've heard that.

As in Uribe + Pitcher + Prospect, or Uribe + Pitching prospect?

Surely, it's Uribe + Pitcher + Prospect. Tejada's slumping, but Uribe and a pitching prospect would mean teams were thinking he's the new Sammy Sosa.

Sorry should have written that out differently.

Uribe and a pitcher and a minor league prospect.(i.e. three players)

I took the minor leaguer part to mean anyone but Josh Fields or Lance Broadway. I don't know much about the White Sox minor league system, but I believe those are their two highly tauted prospects.

If Miggy is on the market and going for that cheap Hendry has to take gamble and get the Cubs an impact hitter. If the Cubs can hang onto Cedeno in a deal for Miggy they can slide Cedeno over to second forming a middle infield that could cover some serious ground.

Not that I would mind that, but not happening.
