Baker keeps making excuses!

Actually, I would've guessed that.

OK, then how about Baker still has a job to go to on June 21st?

Kerry Wood is on the DL, and Mark Prior is in the baby steps of returning to form, if he does it at all.

Oh, this is things you WOULDN'T have guessed? Umm...Rusch is still, as of now anyway, in the rotation.

This is things you WOULDN'T have guessed. We know who's in charge of keeping Baker, so we would guess he'd be here no matter how bad it is.

You wouldn't have guess the stupid people in charge of putting Rusch in the rotation would be too cowardly to admit their mistakes and NOT keep running them out there? I expected it, and it's been happening for far too long.

This thread is about things like. . .

Pierre sucking really bad. . .. .

After Pierre sucking really bad, Pierre actually having an OBP above .350 for the last 10 games.

Jones with a .300 avg this year.

Derreck Lee going down

Blanco being considered for POTW

Maddux having an incredible April

Marmol!!! (just Marmol)

Well, there's the obvious ones:

1. Derek Lee with a major injury. Impossible to predict it.

2. Pierre the bastion of suckage that he is. I mean we knew he wasn't incredible, but this bad? No way.

3. Ramirez with the crappiness. This kind of ties into the Lee injury I think, but I still expected more.

And then there are some others:

4. Maddux with the incredible April, then the slowdown---pretty much the exact opposite of other seasons.

5. I wouldn't have guessed Prior would just be coming back now. I thought it was going to be mid-May.

6. Marmol & Marshall: two young guns with some promise. Gooz: young gun faltering. I would have picked it the other way around :)

7. Jones catching his wind. After that brutal start, I'm surprised. Good for him.

8. Howry not all that great: seems like he struggles a bit too much for a guy who was supposed to be so solid. I realize his numbers say otherwise, I'm just going on observation. He seems to struggle whenever I watch him.

Things that have surprised me since the season started:

*Maddux's torrid start and then just as fast his awful slump

*DLee injury

*Cedeno having as many hits as Juan Pierre

*Cedeno having 5 triples, Pierre having 4, and Barrett having 3!

*Matt Murton having only 4 HRs

*Brynum has 3 triples but no doubles

*Murton has 30 Runs Scored in 212 ABs, while Pierre has 34 Runs Scored in 292 ABs

*Nevin leading the active team in SLG%

*Murton struggling against right-handers??

*Barrett punching someone in the face

*Barrett leading the team in batting average at just .308

*Todd Walker losing all his power

Posted

Things I wouldn't have guessed; Cub-wise:

Murton's and Walker's lack of power

Ramirez's awful start

Marshall and Mormal's relative success

Jones' production (better then I thought)

Cedeno has actually played more then I thought (probably becuase Neifi gets to start at 2B now)

Things I wouldn't have guessed (or would not want to know...)

That Patterson is having a higher AVG than Cedeno, Murton, Aramis, & Pierre - a higher OBP than Jones, Aramis, Cedeno, & Pierre - a higher OPS than Walker, Cedeno, Murton, & Pierre - and more SB than Pierre...

That Nomar would be leading our team in Runs, Hits, 2B, RBI, SO (the fewest), AVG, OBP, SLG, OPS...

Heres some things I wouldnt have guessed around Baseball:

-Heltons home run power vanishing.

-Ben Sheets spending 90% of the season on the DL

-Ponson having success

-The Bluejays actually competing with Boston/NYY. We knew they'd be good, but wow.

-The BRAVES IN LAST PLACE

-Sheltons Monsterous start

-Delmon Youngs Bat Toss game.

-An Ex-Whitesox getting arrested for DUI...oh wait..nvm.
