The new management team should recognize Walker's value to this team and keep him as well.

I like Walker a lot, but I think that E-Patt will be able to hit almost as well as him, for a cheaper price. Plus, I think there are enough smart teams out there who recognize Walker's worth as an offensive second baseman that the Cubs can get a fairly solid prospect in return for him.

Wow.

I don't know what to say.

Thank you?

Somehow, that just doesn't convey what I'm thinking.

Are you saying this isn't what the Pirates meant when they said they were creating a "new Pirates generation" of fans? They didn't mean disatisfied Cubs' fans?

I really want to go see a game at Pittsburg's new ballpark. :P

Its a great ballpark. I went a couple of years ago, I think 2002 when Don Baylor was still there. I got to see him ruin Jon Lieber by having him re-take the mound after a two hour rain delay.

But a great ballpark. Not a bad seat in the house.

Am I the first? I think we need the Buccos to not just pass the Cubs, but fly past them to have any chance of management changes. In the lost season, its time to say "Lets go Bucs!"

The other Fecal Matter League teams are also doing pretty darn well, The Nationals and the Marlins are teasing with .500 and mediocrity.

Soon its just gonna be the Cubs and the Royals.

The ballpark is so nice that most people who go there don't go for the baseball. Go on a nice night, get a seat along the third base side with a view of downtown, grab a beer, a hot dog. It's so pleasent, it doesn't matter how much the team sucks.

I'll be at Wrigley on August 4th (Or what ever the saturday of that weekend is) to see the two worst teams in the NL Central.

Get off the wagon.

We win this contest.

We were swept by the Royals. Need I say more?

How do you sleep at night?

The Bucs are letting us down  Just kidding ... no matter how bad things get I will never, ever root against the Cubs or hope they finish in last. I think I'm in the minority on this board in that respect...

I think it'll take more than the Royals sweep to knock me off the wagon. The benefit of that series was, the only two teams in baseball worse than the Cubs combined to go .500 that series. (I'm rooting for both to surpass the Cubs as soon as possible.) At that pace, it'll happen in no time at all.

I said that once myself. However, if losing would mean changes, I'm all for it. If 81-81 means more status quo, no thanks.

Losing has never meant changes for this franchise, why should it now?

I'm not in the "I hope they lose camp" just because of that.

It's been 14 seasons. Although, this is only my 10th, (and final season, Thank Kent)

Although, I think I'll still root for them in my new home. Can't root for the Phillys.

And if we're lucky, maybe by the Pirates.

I sure hope this BandWGN didn't cause the Pirates to get swept by the Royals.....

If it did, we need one ASAP for the Cards, Reds, Astros, and Brewers.

Where were you in 2002? Losing definitely meant change. Baylor was sent packing. Hendry was brought in as GM and an interim manager finished up one of the most pathetic seasons in Chicago Cub history, one only comparable to the current 2006 season.

Hendry made some bold moves in 2003 to right the ship. Unfortunately, it's been a downhill slide ever since. He had the right idea in 2004, but injuries were part of the undoing. But, not the entire undoing. Since the end of 2004, it's been nothing but a debacle. Hendry has attempted to shift the team philosophy to emulate other teams that showed a short stint of success rather than use his team strengths and resources to further strengthen the team.

And I'm not attempting to sway your opinion. Just stating mine. I'm not a hater. I just want change. The threat of a Dusty extension hits too close to home with me.
