I know a number of you guys are wandering around this site, seeing what the deal is with the Cubs.

 

Come on out and introduce yourselves. We're bored and could use the entertainment. :D

By the way, just so you don't have to beat around the bush, we know that we suck and we are the worst and most inept franchise in the history of sports, so you can talk freely about it.

 

A brief FAQ:

 

Did you know you guys suck?

A: Yes, we know. We are terrible

 

So why haven't you won the World Series?

A: Because of the aforementioned terribleness. Also a goat and an overzealous fan or something.

 

Dude that fan was terrible.

A: IT WAS ALEX GONZALEZ

 

Woah, Neifi Perez. I could have sworn he was playing for the St. Paul Saints or the Newark Bears or something.

A: Nope, our inept organization signed him to a $5 million 2 year deal to be our starting 2B despite a career sub-.300 OBP and now he's starting most days and hitting 2nd. YES SECOND.

 

Wait what's OBP?

A: Are you sure your not Jim Hendry?

 

Will you ever win the World Series?

A: No

 

Then why are you still fans?

Yep. Besides, you'll find plenty of people around here who probably hate the White Sox as much as you do...if not moreso in some cases.

If nothing else, we'll be a lot more willing to discuss Sox hate now than before, since the Cubs are giving us nothing but the same old crap to talk about.

Whoa, Greg Maddux is still alive?

A: Yes, and he's been the second most consistent starter on this team since 2004 behind Carlos Zambrano...which is more of a testament to how sad and injured this pitching staff has been more than anything else.

 

What's with that orange-colored blob that seems to be hovering in the stands behind home plate?

A: That's our general manager, Jim Hendry, wearing his favorite shirt.

 

Holy crap, has Juan Pierre really been THAT BAD?

A: Yes. He's been in all 65 games this year and has accumulated all but 13 PAs in the leadoff spot. You know that Nolasco guy who's pitching for the Marlins and has been a nice fantasy pickup this season? He was one of three guys traded for Pierre.

 

Does Phil Garner still resemble Yosemite Sam?

A: Even moreso than ever.

 

I'm going to be in town this weekend for the series. Where are some good places to go before and after the game?

A: Metromix is your best friend for that.

 

We have a promising young rotation along with a quality offense and some intriguing guys down in the farm system. Any advice for us on how to avoid what happened to you guys?

A: Beware of pitcher overuse and short-sighted trades.

 

Do you guys think you could beat the Royals in a best of seven series?

A: I don't know how, but game seven would likely end in a tie.

 

Are there any guys on your team worth watching?

A: At this point, just the pitchers. Carlos Zambrano, Carlos Marmol, and Sean Marshall are all young, talented, promising, and producing. The bullpen is decent when it's not busy lighting itself on fire. The coaching staff has managed to get into the ears of Ronnie Cedeno and Matt Murton, so they've been on a steady decline recently. Jock Jones is pretty good when he's hitting well...but he's been slumping lately.

 

This weekend is going to get ugly for you guys, isn it?

A: Yep.

Yeah, the Cobs really are depressing. It's too bad they can't rebound from a poor month and get a streak going.

 

Other teams do that, don't they? Hmm, I can't think of a team that's done anything like that, but surely some could, right?

Not hate...dislike. And that's always been there. It's not something newborn.

 

And yes....I'm jealous as hell.

Well, I mean, it's a Cubs board. The fact that some posters hate the Sox shouldn't be surprising. There may even be 1 or 2 that don't like the Cardinals.

Yessss....my hatred of the Cardinals is almost as passionate as my love for the Cubs.

One thing that hits me from watching this series is how nice it would have been to sign Magglio Ordonez when we had the chance. Add Pudge Rodriguez into that as well. We were laughing at the Tigers GM....look at them now.
