And so it ends with a whimper.

The bright side: another dagger in Dusty's bloated corpse.

(Oh, who am I kidding. He'll be re-upped for 3 years. Yay squadron!)

Happy Birthday Dusty you moran

Just gotta tip your hat to the Astros...it was too hot out there today...high sky...too many people at the game. I'm not being too creative with my excuses, I'm certain many of you could do better, including the Excuse Master, Dusty.

Wow......Santo sounds like death is at the door. He is just soooo depressed.

Ron Santo won't be the first Cub fan/player this team has killed. Believe it.

I can't believe that Jim Hendry turned this team from a World Series contender with a young talented core into a 100 loss team (the first since 1966) in just 3 years. Good work loser.

Ha. So true. I was listening to the pregame on WGN radio today and Dusty was giving all sorts of excuses for the loss yesterday. He was saying they weren't really hitting the ball hard against Maddux, just a bunch of bloops. Then he said the Cubs were hitting the ball hard, but they were just hitting it right at people. Pretty much the token excuse this year.

If that were to happen, could we get Dusty/Hendry/Macphail strung up on manslaughter charges?

"Is Wayne Brady gonna have to choke a b@#$!?"

That's all I can think when he spouts that inane "hit it right at the wrong people" excuse. Yeah, no crap, dummy! That's how people are caught/thrown out! Quit acting like people catching the ball is so unfair and unusual!

winning the 3 out of 4 at cincy just got dumped in the trash can.

That is what this will continue to be. They dug themselves a large enough hole where they are stuck where they are in the standings.

They will win 2 here and then proceed to lose three. Although I can see them only winning one game in the next two series versus the Tigers and Indians. These two teams are going to put on a hitting clinic against the Cubs.

Right. Then he'll throw out the "ive never seen that before" line to totally cover his ass.

Haha.

At some point Neifi's got to start hitting like that power-house run producer he was signed to be.

Truly, this is the worst excuse of all time. You hit the ball at people when you lose in baseball. This is equivalent to saying, 'Yeah, we made great pitches but they kept running into bats that were traveling very quickly in the opposite direction.' Or a running back saying, 'Yeah, I was running really fast but then someone got in my way and I fell down.'

That's Dusty logic in a nutshell.

The Cubs suck. Another disappointing loss.

In a nutshell.

Oh, and it's officially 2.5 seasons from knocking on the door of the World Series to last place.

add in this little nugget...if we make the moves to move prior and cut loose wood...our 2003 team will be gones except for z and aram.

alou,loftin,patterson,sosa all gone

aram came midway, agonz, grudz, simon all gone

wood,prior,clement could all be gone.

jobo gone

mercker gone

farns gone

remlinger gone

perhaps we should look a little harder at our gm's moves
