So now we need to beat Ghana and then have Italy beat Czech Republic right? With the goal differential I would assume that a tie in that game would eliminate us, as would a Czech win.

That was quite possibly the worst refereed match I have ever seen in my life. Plays he called as fouls one time he didn't call another time. Three red cards? Mastroeni and Pope should have ended the game with just a yellow card each. We got completely hosed on that one. In a matter of three minutes of game time we went from being in complete control of the match up a man to down a man. UNREAL.

 

Italy played horribly and they should be disappointed that they were up a man for the whole second half up a player and couldn't score a goal.

 

We should have won that match (and almost did had McBride not been offsides).

 

Honestly, I'm really happy that the US played like they are capable of playing and not like they did against the Czech's. Hopefully we can find a way to advance.

Indeed. That was horrid and appalling officiating.

 

I think without the ref interventions, the US win that match -- even discouting the own goal. de Rossi earned his red card, but the red on Pablo was terrible.

 

I was very pleased with Dempsey -- but Beasley was worthless in his time. Not a great substitution. Fresh legs need to be used and Beasley looked tired from the get-go. I probably sub Johnson in late in the game for McBride. Good game by Cherundolo, Keller and Gooch in the back. Reyna was solid, too.

Just got back from Ginger's. what a crap refereeing job. I'm hoarse right now.

 

I was unhappy about Dempsey getting pulled, but DMB is better defensively. McBride was gassed and should've come out instead.

 

We got lucky that Italy pulled Totti for Gattuso. Del Piero was unimpressive. Toni was quiet. Gilardino was also quiet.

 

Gooch was a monster today. More than made up for his poor performance last game.

 

I was actually fairly impressed with Conrad.

 

Cannavaro is a bastard. The ref should be shot. I'm proud of the team. We should hold our heads high.
