Haha, Payton grabbed and held Terry on that last play. No call. Terry had a good look, though. :(

Congrats, Jason Kapono! The only worthwhile Heat.

Well for us Bulls fans at least we can hang our hat on the fact that our young , undersized team played the world champs really hard.

Pat Riley just won a title with Stan Van Gundy's blood all over his suit. The refs horribly botched this series. The superstar treatment is back in the NBA.

As much as I like some of the guys on the Heat...I really can't bring myself to be all to thrilled about this.

Something tells me Shaq's going to retire in the offseason.

Heat are going to be gutted then, I can't see Mourning or Payton sticking around they got what they've been hanging around for.

The one redeeming factor is no Bill Walton slurping Dwyane Wade for an entire series. Though to his credit, Hubie picked up the slack.

I hate David Stern.

Why I bother caring about the NBA is beyond me.

At least you have time to focus on the Cubs now.

*ducks*

I can't wait to hear what Mark Cuban is going to say about this.

He'll hold his tongue. Game 7 had some bad moments, but he already said everything he needed to say.

The NBA is just a rung above the WWE as far as legitimacy goes.

I took an Exercize Biology: Sociology of Sport class a couple quarters ago. We were talking about games that are sports and others that are spectacles. The WWE obviously fell in the spectacle category but he said that the NBA is closer to falling into that category than the other "major" sports. I agreed with him then and do even more so now.

The NBA knows it has officiating problems and does nothing to fix them. Stern rules as a dictator anyway. If he wanted a league with integrity, he could have one. It's just not one of his priorities. It's hard to create a league of integrity when you have none yourself.

The fact that the NBA is an officating joke is no new information to us Bulls fans, who watched Sweetney and Hinrich combine for about 638,892 times getting hammered in the lane without a call this season and had numerous instances of the other team's best player shooting more FTs than the Bulls team.

First, Dwyane Wade shot as many free throws (25) as the entire Dallas team in Game 5. I just don't see how there's any way this can happen in a fairly-called game. It's theoretically impossible.

There is one exception to this that I can think of and that's when teams used to do the Hack-A-Shaq and would just grab Shaq up until there were two minutes left in the half (when the foul became a shoot the free throws and get the ball back situation) to send him to the line. Shaq often had games where he would shoot 20+ FT's and occasionally had a game with 30+ FTA. He even had a game where he shot an unbelievable 39 FT's against Indiana in Game 2 of the 2000 NBA Finals. I'm not old enough to remember if they did this to Wilt as well but I believe they did IIRC.

I believe that Wade broke Bob Petit's record for free throw attempts in an NBA Finals game.....so the numbers go back for a while

It's the game on 2000-06-09.

Wow....that I did not know......thanks.....quite the stat......for some reason I thought the announcers referred to Petit....I must have not been paying attention...thanks for the #

I'm a Lakers fan. I remember the Hack-A-Shaq like it was yesterday and figured Shaq had a game of 25 FT's in the finals. I didn't know he had 39 though. That amazed me as well.

Do you also remember Game 7 in 2002 against the Kings?? ;)

One of these days, I am going to re-watch that game and just count the injustices that occurred.

I believe that Game 6 was the one that was truly a joke in many people's eyes.
