Hey folks...

Sorry to crash the party here, I was linked to your 'pujols is a coward' thread and thought i'd put my two cents in...

(BTW...fun board, I plan to stick around...lots of good ball discussion, and the folks suffering from swamp fever -every board has em- are entertaining).

So I'm a Cardinals fan that was born and raised in St. Louis and did all of my education and a two year residency at UMKC.

1. Pujols hasn't lied about his age. A few points on this:

A. Cubbie Rich alluded to some rival high school having a beef. Not that I recall. All evidence suggests that he was cleared and vetted by the MHSAA like any other player. It was a select team that had a complaint, and that was dealt with. Why does he have to have his BC online to pacify Cubbie Rich?

2. Pujols has been tested for steroids THREE TIMES this year.

3. There is no test for HGH, but what evidence does anyone have that Pujols is on it? He's always been a big guy. Even in high school, he was pretty doughy. In the past few seasons, he's gotten bigger, for sure. Around his gut. Not exactly the side affect of performance enhancing drugs.

4. As a beneficiary of a PFF fundraiser (I work with special needs kids and our program got lots of memorabilia from albert and deidre) i'm glad he charges a high amount, THROUGH HIS OWN WEBSITE, for his autograph. The money goes to charity. You can still walk up to a fence in spring training, or around town, and get an autograph for free. I did.

That's it. Looking forward to talkin baseball with some northsiders.

1) We rip on Pujols because he plays for the Cardinals. The vast majority of us already know that he is 57 years old and he will continue to hit until he takes off that Cardinals jersey. He will leave the NL Central at the age of 84 and then he will begin his decline.

2) Pujols was so hopped up on roids that he scared the tester himself into actually providing the urine sample. It's true, look it up.

3) HGH is actually Pujols sweat. Don't act surprised. He has 8 year olds in Guatemala bottling it.

4) Welcome to the board. As long as you keep in mind, and respect, that we are Cubs fans and already know how badly the team sucks, you'll be just fine.

That whole post is classic.

5) He is Miguel Cabrera's father who is actually 50 years old. Albert was 7 years old when his wife had Miguel. He is also the grandfather of Miguel's kids, Shakira and Wilmer Valderamma.

6) His back ailment is not baseball-related. He hurt his back while pointing to the sky as he shouted, "BINGO!" Other reports claim that he injured his back during a bench-clearing bocce ball match. Those rascally Guillen kids were there as was Joey Cora, who is reported to have bitten Albert's ankle during the altercation.

7) His wife is a founding memeber of The Red Hat Society along with Julio Franco's wife. Here's a pic of the two: (Mrs Pujol's on the left)

8) I'm a Cards fan who has no problem poking fun at his own team.

Which is exactly what I said to Vlad Guerrero after he snubbed my 8 year old brother's autograph request because of an endorsement contract. Apparently a 50+ million dollar contract or whatever he has just doesn't go as far as it used to so he has an exclusive merchandising contract.

How about, he's a great person off the field, a good player, and someone who is clean, but happens to play for a team 300 miles away that a lot of Cubs fans hate.

Pardon my ignorance, but who are you quoting in your signature?

You cannot be serious? How many IDIOTIC MANAGERS in baseball would say something like that?

The entirety of that sucker is a classic:

I think walks are overrated unless you can run," Baker said. "If you get a walk and put the pitcher in a stretch, that helps. But the guy who walks and can't run, most of the time they're clogging up the bases for somebody who can run."

That kind of talk is nothing short of heresy for those in the OBP-is-king camp. Baker, an old-school sort, doesn't seem to mind.

"Who's been the champions the last seven, eight years?" he asked "Have you ever heard the Yankees talk about on-base percentage and walks? Walks help. But you ain't going to walk across the plate. You're going to hit across the plate. That's the school I come from.

"It's called hitting, and it ain't called walking. Do you ever see the top 10 walking? You see top 10 batting average. A lot of those top 10 do walk. But the name of the game is to hit."

Wow! I'll have to get an atlas for all these Cards fans locations. What power the Cubs fans have over them to come here to talk baseball. Now..onto destroying your points.

1) Pujols' age was in question by a rival KC high school. His HS-Fort Osage-even petitioned to have Pujols eligible for another year. Pujols admits he even lied to get a date with his wife. Many media people have questioned his age and until he produces a 'certified birth certificate'-they will continue to do so. But not to worry, a couple of Cards fans are busy looking for it and have promised to show all of us here. Still waiting.

2) Glad he says he's has been tested 3 times. But then MLB is prohibited from even commenting on any sort of testing schedule. So, that story is coming from who?

3) I hope your 2 years of residency wasn't in anything medical. There are plenty of tests for HGH, but they involve blood testing-not just urine testing. Pujols knows that players can not be tested for HGH under the current contract and substance abuse policy. But if he wants to step up and be a leader-I will pay for his HGH test at a medical clinic in Downers Grove.

4) It's one thing to sell your autograph, it's another to jack up the price for your autograph and hide behind some foundation. There are plenty of players who have done more in the game and don't charge as much. Sandberg, Banks, Williams, Santo come to mind right away.

No but coming to every thread about the Cardinals and accusing Pujols of using steriods gets a little comical after a while.

Seeing this again just makes me sad. :(

Every one of his points had been refuted to the satisfaction of both the united states government (citizenship/age as well as the post-9/11 background checks that exposed dozens of Latin players age fabrications) and Major League Baseball, the story of him being tested 3 times came from Bernie Miklacz a very respected journalist, he played in the WBC which tested for HGH under IOC guidelines, and his fourth point was just egregiously wrong. The memorabilia sold on his site benefits his family foundation. I've never seen anybody mad about helping mentally [expletive] people before now. As someone else mentioned, he only charges on the charity site; you can still get a free autograph from him by asking at a game or if you see him around town. He is far more accomadating than most super stars who have exclusive memorabilia deals through their agents like I mentioned earlier.

Just because you people don't like Pujols doesn't mean you aren't going to get called out for making stuff up about him. The attacks are kind of funny in a sad way.
