professional contract by the Chicago Cubs. As a five-year college player, Gudex was able to sign with any team and circumvent the major league draft if he did so before June 3.

I would be surprised if we didn't screw him up.

We'll be waiting for Gudex.

Nicely played. I'm hoping I'm not the only one who got the reference.

I've got a grad degree in English, and I'm sure there are others here who've read Beckett.

Gudex was absolutely lights out for two years. Big Ten baseball obviously isn't elite and Iowa is a middle of the road Big Ten program. But Gudex was about as dominant it gets for a closer and almost had a Gagne-like rep in the conference.

Now I'm not saying that he's closer of the future and he is 23, but he could have a future and it's a nice pro-active move to see.

Oh and major nit-picking here, but it's U of Iowa, not Iowa U.

Any idea(directed towards anyone) what his stuff is like?

:-k

I don't get it.

There's no shame in that, but you should still either read or see a good production of the play: Waiting for Godot.

Well he doesn't throw hard which is his biggest negative and I guess you could classify him as a crafty (and fairly small) lefty. He's usually in the mid-80's, but his changeup can be his best pitch and he has a pretty solid breaking ball. He had so much success because he's able to mix up speed so well and keep hitters off balance with very good control.

Gudex was originally a walk-on who was nearly cut at the beginning of his career. The coaches liked his work ethic and mental makeup so they gave him a shot and he really developed his offspeed stuff.

He ended up being a dominant closer and actually started (and won) a game against Illinois this year because he wasn't getting many opportunities.

He won't blow anyone away with his stuff as he advances so he could definitely be exposed, but the production is tough to argue with.

Waiting for Gidot is an absurdist play by Samuel Beckett. It's called the play where nothing happens twice (those familiar with it will get that comment). Sorry. I'm a theatre and English double major and my college is going to perform that show next semester.

Thanx. And the last play I've seen was "Rent" back in the late 90s. The version with Jesse Martin/Taye Diggs/Anthony. So I may just go and see this play.
