bad month for Cedeno.

His ops was .816 in April & .570 in May. His 0-3 today will take that down even further.

I am thinking he is the next Rey Sanchez, but hope I am wrong.

Is part of his struggles due in large part to the organizational philosophy of aggressiveness at the plate?

Or Latin players in general?

He had a pretty poor AB even when he had that bloop single that somehow took Contreras out of the game. I wonder what would have happened to Contreras if that blooper didn't fall.

ding ding ding ding

Honestly, he hasn't had a ton of plate discipline in the minors either, in terms of walk totals. But Dusty preaching "be aggressive" isn't going to help him be more selective.

Ronny doesn't have to be a walk machine to succeed. Just a bit more patience and fewer strikeouts are needed. As we saw late in today's game when he drove in the seventh run, he has a quick bat and can spray the ball around the field. I believe Ronny could be a very effective #2 hitter with a .330 OBP, given his style of hitting.

Or it may be the added pressure to produce in a lineup which routinely trots out the likes of Blanco, Neifi, and co on the same day. I know if I was in this lineup I might be starting to press.

It's a common phrase repeated in Latin America to ballplayers that you don't walk off the island. It may be changing now with greater MLB team presence there, but it really won't affect the guys the Cubs are dealing with considering the way they feel.

Vlad can lean on the fact that he is one of the best pure hitters in MLB history, so he can get by.
