I live in NY and have seen Wang pitch alot the last two years. This kid is a stud and a perfect type of pitcher for Wrigley.

Trade the Yanks Jones/Rusch and Hill/Guzman for him right now.

You could offer the Yanks all 4 and still get the same answer....NO.

Kid is going to be spectacular, and no way the Yanks trade him...no way.

They could be duped into trading him. They need outfield help bad and Jones would probably fit well with them. He could be a Yankee for the next two years depending if they want Sheff back.

Jones/Guzman could intrest them. It's not like Wang is 7-0 with a 1.50 ERA right now.

Maybe I am underestimating the Yankees intellegence? :?

I don't see the signs pointing to him being a star.

And may I ask why you think of that?

Solid but not spectacular Minor League numbers, where he was slightly old for his leagues. Very low K rates(and corresponding K/BB ratio) at the big league level, and nothing completely great with opposing batting lines. He gets a ton of groundballs, but it seems to me his ceiling is that of a Jon Lieber, which seems to fall short of the hype he was receiving in the thread thus far.

"Very low K rate and tons of ground balls." Why do you have to have a good K rate to be a good pitcher? Look at Greg Maddux. He has NEVER relied on striking out a ton of guys. Also, don't good pitchers get a ton of ground balls? I thought getting ground balls was a good thing. :?

I'm with you on this one. His strikeout rate is just too far below league average for a real career. That is, unless he suddenly gets the control of Lew Burdette and a real defense behind him.

Funny story, Maddux is higher on the all time strikeout list than he is on the win list. And his strikeout rate has always been around league average or higher.

Greg Maddux's K rate isn't that low.

Lets tell Cashman this, and then convince them to trade Wang to us for Rusch. Then he can prove you all wrong in a Cubs uniform.

Think of the marketability of the Wang & Ryu combo!

Yeah...just think what would happen if we had a game we needed to snatch and Wang rises to the occasion.

He'd be the perfect 1-2 punch with Wood.

I'm just glad to finally have healthy Wood.

Let's wait and see how he pitches first. The loss of velocity is a concern.

Slow. Gun.

Multiple slow guns? I don't think so.

Wood hit 97 in Peoria and Nathan said he was consistently at 92-94.

Maybe it is still early and he can regain all velocity but last year when Wood was pitching for us his fastball would consistently hit mid-high 90s.

We would have the threat of Wang and Wood and maybe we can have

Dick Pole back as pitching coach.

How many times do you have to read that it was in the 40s and rainy? How can anyone possible think a pticher could have his best stuff on a night like that.
