Does Baker make it to the ASB?

And should baseball ammend the "every team has to be represented at the ASGame" rule? Cause....outside of Dempster and Barrettt....there is not ONE player that deserves to go to the ASG.

Baker will finish the season because Hendry won't fire him. Why? Because then the heat will only be on Hendry and he knows that. Right now I think most fans despise Baker more and Hendry can be comfortable with that. Personally, I think, they both should go or they both should stay. To me, their both the same and it does no good to keep one. Ideally, they both should go.

Baker WON'T finish the season. One way or another....either Baker will get fired, or he will resign. I believe he will be fired, if this team continues to play this bad. But it safe to say....everybody---maybe excluding Speier---on the coaching staff will not be back in 2007.

I do like Speier. He's the best thing going for that whole coaching staff.

I mean c'mon seriously why fire him now? Can any other manager get anymore wins from this team? We have 3 rookie pitchers in our rotation!

Do I think we could get more wins right now with another manager? No.

My post is just being consistent because I said the same thing during the season last year and during this off-season. And, yes, there are more fire Dusty posts now than there were five weeks ago.

Why are people so hung up on the 3 rookie pitchers. They'll end up with about a month's worth of that situation. And the only reason is because they had 2 veterans that failed and they felt compelled to replace.

Why wouldn't their be more fire Baker posts when the team is playing worse? Aren't management types supposed to be held accountable for failure?

Mike Krukow just said Bonds will hit his HR against the Dodgers. Hold your breath the last at bat, because he is seldom ever right!

Where are you from? Just curious because everyone else is either following the game on WGN or on XM with Jon Miller?

I don't understand the both should stay or both should go theory. Why should the mistake of extending Hendry be compounded by the mistake of keeping Baker? Hendry's extension means he's here through at least next season (and probably 2008). We're stuck with that. We don't have to be stuck with Hendry and Baker together. Maybe it's unlikely, but maybe Hendry could find some success with a different manager. He doesn't do things the way I'd like him to, but I know there's more than one way to win. The Hendry/Baker combo isn't going to do it, but why not take a chance on the Hendry/whoever combo? If that doesn't work, then you clean house.

Why torture yourself by keeping Baker just because Hendry is also staying? That's like saying you if you're going to kick me in the balls you might as well punch me in the face while you're at it.

I think you have more confidence in Hendry than I do. I've seen no signs, not even a little one, that he'd improve with a different manager. Baker asked for more speed and Hendry goes and gets Bynum and Pierre (who now for three straight years has a bad OBP). Why Hendry goes and gets Bynum is beyond me. I think our scouting dept. and minor league talent is below average compared to five years ago. I have yet to be impressed with Hendry's use of the budget. Maybe he'd be a better GM with a lower payroll, I don't know, but I think he's just a bad GM no matter who his manager is.

This team is playing so bad Lee's "accidentally" bashing his wrist against something hard every day just to stay away longer.

Since there's no offense to talk about, which type of out do you all find the most frustrating, the fly, grounder or strike out? Obviously there's more variation than that, but I'm too depressed to get into specifics. Anyway, watching this team has made me realize just how much I HATE the ground out. It just seems SO incredibly useless and impotent...just strike the hell out and don't get my hopes up.

Seriously...Blanco pitch hits? I guess Theriot is only the late inning defensive replacement spark that we've been needing.

I'm neutral to Rothschild, and you can't blame him for the twin sisters (Wood/Prior) for getting hurt.

Wood and Prior are just flat out injury prone. Theres nothing Larry can do to change that. This is also his FIRST season with a good closer and a good bullpen.

I completely disagree that there is nothing they can do about it. It's pretty clear that misuse and overuse played some role in their injuries. Mechanics supposedly played another role. The pitching coach is very much responsible for those things. He's not 100% responsible, but he takes some blame.

You want to turn the team around?

Fire Baker, Clines, Sarge and Pole

DFA Bynum

Trade or DFA Hairston

Give Neifi a complete bench role, or trade him.

Acquire a platoon partner for Jones

Get a coach that will only award performing players, with higher batting slots in the lineup.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry when I think of how many roster spots are taken up by legitimate DFA candidates.

and all of these players are on a team with a payroll that is close to $100 million. I'd rather have some of the players on the Florida Marlins $15 million payroll than some of the guys we have.

Yeah, like those bums Cabrera, Hermida, and Hanley Ramirez.

well yeah, I'd take those guys obviously. The guys I'm referring to would be guys like Jacobs, Willingham, Abercrombie, and Uggla. Tell me those guys can't do better than guys like Blanco, Bynum, and Perez.

and I know I probably shouldn't mention this...but just to remind everyone, Neifi Perez is getting payed $2.5 million. And his contract isn't up until 2007.

Maybe I do, but that's only because I have zero confidence in him and you have negative confidence.

So. How does this justify keeping the bad manager?

I am in Reno and get the game on Fox sports.

I know, I like to laugh through my pain. It's a defense mechanism, I guess. I'd take them too. I think Blanco's average is now less than 0, and Bynum and Perez go without saying. Hairston's climbing up my list too.

Depends, but I think I hate the fly out. A fly is going to be out except for the most exteme circumstances. On the other hand, a lot of singles are just ground outs that didn't go to where the fielder was. Of course, the GIDP is the worst, I'd rather they hit it in the air when the situation calls for it.

The absolute worst is the first pitch out of the strike zone foul pop out.

Well at least (baring next inning) it looks like Bonds won't homer against us this series...I know I'm reaching for something positive.
