Does Baker make it to the ASB?

And should baseball ammend the "every team has to be represented at the ASGame" rule? Cause....outside of Dempster and Barrettt....there is not ONE player that deserves to go to the ASG.

Baker will finish the season because Hendry won't fire him. Why? Because then the heat will only be on Hendry and he knows that. Right now I think most fans despise Baker more and Hendry can be comfortable with that. Personally, I think, they both should go or they both should stay. To me, their both the same and it does no good to keep one. Ideally, they both should go.

You want to turn the team around?

Fire Baker, Clines, Sarge and Pole

DFA Bynum

Trade or DFA Hairston

Give Neifi a complete bench role, or trade him.

Acquire a platoon partner for Jones

Get a coach that will only award performing players, with higher batting slots in the lineup.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry when I think of how many roster spots are taken up by legitimate DFA candidates.

They raised the payroll due to more publicity, winning, more fan base, and an alarmingly larger grasp of the city of Chicago.

I'm at the point where I almost want the Cubs to have their payroll sliced in half. Why blow $100+ million on an awful team and coaching staff when you can have exactly the same results for half that? Or even less?

The Cubs make enough money where it would be fair to the fans to have at least a 100mil payroll. The problem is we have a pathetic GM who doesn't have a clue how to properly use 100mil in payroll. The Cubs are going nowhere with these clowns (MacPhail,Hendry,Baker and coaching staff).

I mean c'mon seriously why fire him now? Can any other manager get anymore wins from this team? We have 3 rookie pitchers in our rotation!

and all of these players are on a team with a payroll that is close to $100 million. I'd rather have some of the players on the Florida Marlins $15 million payroll than some of the guys we have.

Rothschild needs to go before everyone besides Baker IMO.

Do I think we could get more wins right now with another manager? No.

My post is just being consistent because I said the same thing during the season last year and during this off-season. And, yes, there are more fire Dusty posts now than there were five weeks ago.

Mike Krukow just said Bonds will hit his HR against the Dodgers. Hold your breath the last at bat, because he is seldom ever right!

I don't understand the both should stay or both should go theory. Why should the mistake of extending Hendry be compounded by the mistake of keeping Baker? Hendry's extension means he's here through at least next season (and probably 2008). We're stuck with that. We don't have to be stuck with Hendry and Baker together. Maybe it's unlikely, but maybe Hendry could find some success with a different manager. He doesn't do things the way I'd like him to, but I know there's more than one way to win. The Hendry/Baker combo isn't going to do it, but why not take a chance on the Hendry/whoever combo? If that doesn't work, then you clean house.

Why torture yourself by keeping Baker just because Hendry is also staying? That's like saying you if you're going to kick me in the balls you might as well punch me in the face while you're at it.

I'm neutral to Rothschild, because of what he had to say in the offseason. I think he's a coach that wants to stay in Chicago, and really has helped someone like Carlos blossem into a good starter. He seems to be doing well with Marshall, and you can't blame him for the twin sisters (Wood/Prior) for getting hurt.

Wood and Prior are just flat out injury prone. Theres nothing Larry can do to change that. This is also his FIRST season with a good closer and a good bullpen.

I think I might have to be a White Sox fan now.

OBP and good coaching > payroll

As long as you're doing that you should just become a communist also.

You can say the same thing last year. Could any other manager get more wins out of last years team? I mean Baker isn't great but look at these teams he's managed the past two years.

Then have those two go. Dempster definately deserves it and Barrett should make it. What other catcher has hit better than Barrett?
