If fans boo this weekend, then the Cubs won't sign any free agents next off season.

It won't be because the fans are booing. It will because Hendry lowballed another FA and watched him go to another team.

After Hendry lowballs a good FA, he'll highball(if that's a word) another middle reliever and go over the top of what they were even asking.

I'll be there on the 12th. I'm prepared to boo if they perform badly that day, but I won't be booing just because I'm angry about past games.

If you can find a way for me to have a bullhorn connected directly to Dusty's ear, I'll boo him from sunrise to sunset.

By the way, the weather reports for this weekend are downright awful. This could be one of those cold, rainy, bad series with the Cubs just getting torched and nobody in the stands. That would be terrible. Hope it doesn't happen.

Finally, a poster who understands the free agent market.

MPC is right. I heard Clemens was considering coming to the Cubs in June for $1 million, but once he heard how the fans were treating Jacque Jones, he changed his mind.

Unless our fans are more friendly (I suggest bleacher fans wear nametags and address the players as "mister" and "sir"), we'll have no shot at signing an impact free agent next year.

If the rumor is true and i highly doubt it is

I dont think it was the booing so much as it was Derrek Lee broke his wrist

Clemenes played in a far more volitaile cities than Chicago, thats for sure

I will be at the Friday and Saturday games. I am not a person that boo's my favorite teams but they have really been stinking it up. So I may boo them.

Nothing will happen. The Cubs will sell out, a small portion of the crowd will voice their displeasure, but the other 34,000 will be on their 7th beer by the time the Cubs go down 1-0

Exactly. People still show up and nothing will change. If they start getting 15K people to show up at the games, believe me, things will change.

No it is not a myth but believe what you want. You can go to the game, boo and spend 300 bucks, that'll show the Cubs you mean business. Really, that should work.

Cut the Tribunes gate revenues by 58% and see if things don't chance

Fans will boo pretty loudly unless the Cubs look really good the next 2 games. Which they won't.
Your crow is halfway ready to be served. :D

Ok, Trib's gate revenues are cut in half. What do you think will happen? The Trib will go against their stockholder's best interests and overspend on the baseball team? The Trib will sell the team at their lowest value? The Trib will decide that spending 100M a year for mediocrity was a bad idea, so they'll bring in a better GM?

Yup, things would change. Namely our payroll would be cut in half.

That would show them. Nothing causes a team to start winning like losing money. I mean look at the Royals and the Pirates, no one goes and things change. The fans have sent their message.

I agree with Chocolate Milk. Pittsburgh had a good ball club many moons ago. Don't know whether it was the chicken or the egg, but the Pirates sell off all their good players and the fans don't come to games anymore.

It seemed to me that if the fans got loud enough, management would do something. Baylor finally got fired in the middle of a season.

i'll be at the game on saturday. i don't know what i'm rooting harder for...no rain or the cubs to score more than 1 run.

p.s. happy 100 posts.
