If he's struggling when Lee comes back do the Cubs actually have the balls to come out with this lineup:

Walker

Cedeno

Lee

Aramis

Barrett

Murton

Jones

Pierre

Pitcher?

He's awful, and his killing this team when we have better leadoff guys available.

I know right now we can't move him due to personell moves, but could you see them making such a drastic move? IF Pierre doesn't leadoff well, he's worthless - he might not even be a good 8th hitter.

They need to teach him to draw a walk. Make him foul off a 1000 pitches in BP - if he puts in in play, have him run laps.

You do realize that he's batting .311/.363/.432 against righties this year. It's lefties he's struggling against at .140/.178/.140

Murton is .246/.325/.348 against righties.

Dudes, he's so fast, why would you move him from leadoff

Because his OBP is south of .280 - speed only helps if you actually get to first.

Come on, "dude," the Cubs have to justify trading three valueable and cheap arms for him. Of course, Pierre stays at leadoff, even if its at the detriment of the team.

boy would have never thought that. just figured he sucked against both. perhaps they need to platoon him w/ hairston. where's grissom nowadays?

we have proven for 2 seasons now we do not have anyone better. our best bet is to give him some time off against some lefties, hope his value gets up and deal him for some prospects to make up for the ones we lost for him.

I don't understand why Hairston can't play CF against lefties. He couldn't be worse. Oh yeah, we have to justify the crappy trade by never taking Pierre out and keeping him at the leadoff postion. I look forward to the extension Pierre is going to sign so he can relax and not press so much.

I say move him to the bench. Hitting under 240, doesn't walk, Can;t steal first, His usual line is 0-4 and 1-5, with most f his outs, ground balls to second, has no arm in the outfield. BAD..BAD

Never. Everyone knows that the fastest guy on the team should hit first.

No team would ever put someone who doesn't have blazing speed in the leadoff spot. Well, except for Boston who seems to be doing alright with Youkilis hitting leadoff.

Why move him out of the leadoff spot when we can move him out of town?

Get rid of this joker. Bring up Pie. Do it now.

Because at this point we'd be extremely lucky to get back half what we paid to land him in the first place. It would be yet another transaction in which Hendry bought high and sold low. (Or, to be more precise, he bought low but paid an inflated price, then went ahead and sold low.)

Pierre has been terrible, but there's a good chance his numbers will at least somewhat improve. (They really can't get much worse unless he starts making no contact instead of weak contact.) In addition, I wouldn't coniser Pie fully ready just yet, and he could definitely use a bit more time in the prospect oven. I'd just let Pierre play through his struggles, and hopefully he'll improve to the point where he'd make decent trade bait at the deadline if we're out of it or is doing well enough to contribute to the team if we somehow claw our way back into the playoff race.

I suppose. If he's hitting this way at the deadline we're still going to lose our shirts though. It looks very much like the Marlins knew something we didn't and declined to let us in on the joke

What the Marlins knew was that Hendry was desperate for a leadoff hitter after losing out on Furcal and would likely overpay. They were right.

At what point do you move Pierre from leading off?

I don't know, but we could ask the Marlins. They moved Pierre out of the leadoff spot for a while last year.

forget laps, make him do pushups.

Like Willie Mays Hayes in Major League.
