the Nats do have Royce Clayton on their roster. Dont think that they would be pressed to jump at the first offer for Johnson. Think that it would take significantly more than Perez and Hill for him.

Okay, let's say that the Nats are willing to listen to a deal for Johnson. What do we do with him after Lee comes back? Use him as trade bait? The guy can only pay one position and hasn't proven that he's the most resilient player in the MLB.

 

I admire your vision, but I don't see how this would be of any use to us.

 

BTW, Christian Guzman's season being over is probably one of the best pieces of news the Nats have. It's rare that a player makes Neifi look good. Guzman is that player.

Even Bowden wouldn't do that deal. We should be looking at Soriano since he is a FA after this season and will likely be moved at some point. I'm not sure what to do with the defense, but he is having a great year at the plate.

 

Edit: his numbers have dipped considerably recently...maybe not a good idea unless he is reasonably priced....better player than Alou though.

Johnson homered twice yesterday off of 2 lefties. I think it's time to overpay for Craig Wilson. Most of the players that might be available are overpaid, overage veterans. After filling in for Lee, Wilson can platoon in RF and pinch hit. Obviously, the Cubs cannot wait for Lee to return or they will be 20 games out.
