What's Brad Smith's status?

I saw a piece on him on Outside the Lines the other day that made me think he'll get drafted somewhere today.

Still available.

what does he play???

QB. He's kind of a big deal; people know him.

I'm surprised he hasn't been selected yet.

eh, I'm not. I thought he'd be a 2nd day selection and that's what he's going to wind up as. There are still some decent QB's out there as well for the 2nd day..Omar Jacobs comes to mind.

Packers have 6 picks in the final 4 rounds tomorrow. Hopefully we can get Darnell Bing, that kicker from Memphis, and maybe take a QB tomorrow. I'd be very satisfied with our draft if we could do all of that.

Oh yeah, one more gem from Angelo. He talked about how the DT we took, Dusty Dvoracek, had all kinds of alcohol problems, but that he would personally put himself on the line to vouch for his character.

Yeah, pick up two bottles of Jack, a disposable camera and a live chicken, and we'll meet Dusty for a celebration party.

Who else got really mad when they saw Dominique Byrd get taken?

me.

is anyone else really mad we spent 3 draft picks on defensive backs?

Everybody seems to be pissed we took all defensive players and ignored offense, specifically tight end, when there were quality ones available to us at various points.

Ah, Jacobs.

I was at a certain game where he did this:

27-43, 427 yards, 5 TD, 1 INT, 1 fumble

Obviously, not a stout defense we field in Muncie, but the man scared me every single time he put the ball in the air. The sad part is most of the game it felt like we were keeping him IN CHECK! He'll be a really nice 2nd-day pick for someone. You'd think after Big Ben and Leftwich and Pennington, these teams would stop being so squeamish about MAC signal-callers.

Abdul Hodge :D

I'm grinning. We can finally move Barnett to his natural position now, on the outside.

think so? Hawk was a no-brainer, but Hodge is hardly a savior....

He is a heck of a player at this stage of the draft.

Many Iowa fans acknowledge Hodge to be much more fundamentally sound than Greenway. He never misses tackles. Barnett is now GB's 3rd best LB.

Brad Smith? He's incredibly Christian and from some interviews I've read and what I've heard here at Mizzou, is one of the most genuinely honest and nice people ever. You must be thinking of someone else.

And I'm not surprised he hasn't been taken yet. He's not that good of a QB, but his incredible athleticism will land him somewhere tomorrow.

He didn't define "need", but he and Lovie both said that because of the good players we have throughout the team, they didn't feel they were "held hostage" by a certain position they had to fill in the draft, so they took the guys they liked. They said these three players have some sort of intangible "competitiveness" that very few players in the draft had, and that no players left in the draft have because the Bears took the last three available. He said some people might think not taking a tight end is a "head scratcher" but since it isn't a need position, he decided not to take one because he is happy with the tight ends on the roster already.

Now JA is just making a fool of himself.

So I was working all night and found out that the Bears took no offensive players. Jerry, you had the best defense in the league last year and you took 3 more defensive players? You had one of the worst offenses and you said you didn't need any offensive help? Are you out of your mind? Peanut played bad in the playoffs, but I believe he is better than that. So we still have a TE who is as stiff as a baseball bat, has no speed, and can't catch. Great.

This is what hapens when you base your offseason needs on one playoff game, rather than 16 regular season games.

Big Mo Stovall goes to Tampa Bay. Good pick by Tampa, it's just a shame that I now have to hate him.

It's bittersweet at this end as well. :P

Pretty solid pick for the 3rd round. One of these years Tampa is going to be able to draft a deep threat(thanks for rising from the dead last year Joey Galloway), Stovall seems monotonous with Clayton, but he's a good value nonetheless.

tight ends??? we dont need no stinkin' tight end!!!

It's been many hours and I've been to a free concert and with my girlfriend since then and I'm still angry. I hate sports.

Tapp & Jennings for the Seahawks? GREAT draft! And not having a 3rd rounder didn't reall ymake any differences. I expect an O linemen project in the 4th and we will head back to the super bowl

Im a little disappointed the Bears didnt get Pope but im not going to totally write of this draft.

Manning appears to be a better fit for this defense than Green. Ok, Green sucked bad. Still an upgrade.

Hester-This dude seems to play a lot faster than his 4.4 time. The smallish fast/quick slot receiver i am starting to like. Deion Branch/Troy Brown mold.

Dvoracek-Glad they got another DT. Im not crazy about Boone. This guy seems to fit the one gap defense. From the reports ive read, seems like the player that can blow plays up in the backfield. So he cant pursue, thats for Urlacher and Briggs to do, no big deal.

I dont know much of the TE's. I do like Owen Daniels from Wisconsin. He was a very solid player for Wis from the games i saw him play. Athletic.

49ers draft Michael Robinson, QB from Penn St. He was announced as a RB however and is listed on ESPN's draftcast as a WR. You'd figure Brad Smith would be drafted soon if Robinson is drafted.

and Darnell Bing is picked by the Raiders :x
