Ou tof curiousity how was Borowski's velocity?

I don't know.

Don't kill me but, when I saw JoBo (surprisingly non sweaty and thin) I immediately thought " he's off the juice." Well, that's because the seed of doubt was planted by B&B that maybe he was using a few years ago.

He never broke a sweat and wasn't all wild-eyed like he used to be. I think it's a combo of losing weight and getting off the greenies.

I'm still not convinced. I want to know what happened to his velocity; he's suppose to be completely healthy now so why isn't he pitching in the 90's?

The Cubs need ANOTHER big bat on the bench, if for nothing else, to keep Nefti from ever smelling the batter's. It is a BAD managing job, when you have Neft leading off (and I know that was mention earlier). The Cubs need to find another RH big bat, so they can get rid of either Bynum or Restovich (way back to Iowa) .

Must be the lack of steroids.

It might be. There were some people here that speculated that he was using when his velocity went up in 2003.

Haha, nothing like giving the save to a pitcher you released last year, and having a player you traded get the win, while the player you traded him for get the last out. Typical Cub!

Oh well, I expected 2/3 from Florida. Now we move on to Milwaukee. Here I predict 2/3 as well. (It is Rusch, Maddux Zambrano right?)

My understanding is that it's now Maddux, Rusch & Zambrano.

It is very common not to get the same velocity after having a shoulder injury like his. Matt Morris is a perfecr example, and IMO we will probably see the same thing with Wade Miller. Good thing Guzman came back just fine from his labrum tear.

Yes but, outside of a good year and a half, he has always worked in the 80s. I think he has now returned to normal but he was possibily using an enhancement in the past.

Perhaps Borowski wasn't sweating because the temperature was around 60 with low humidity? Just a thought. He looked like had the same borderline stuff and command he had last season, but the Cubs helped him out by swinging at some bad pitches.

Didn't matter, there were games where you could see his breath and JoBo would come out looking like he just got out of the shower.

Topped out at 89 mph. I think, but I may have missed a few pitches. I saw one of his fastballs at 85.

That's right, he didn't even hit 90.

he hit 90 a few times

I just got back from the game, sunburned and all.

It was pretty cool, I went with Joe Giradi's brother (who is a doctor) and got to shake Joe's hand and get his autograph. He was a very nice guy, told security off when they tried to make us go to our seats. I would have talked to some of the Marlin players, but unfortunately all of the ex-Cubs and big names weren't near.

It seemed like a tight strike zone, judging at least from fan reactions near home plate. Overall though towards the end of the game, after the play in RF and Williamson's inning, people were pretty sick of the mistakes. There were a few fights in the RF bleachers, but they seemed pretty quiet out there today.

How did you score that arrangement? Wow!

I just got back. Best thing of today was leaving the ballpark with DLee right behind our cab. First thing we said was, "he's driving with a broken wrist?" Seriously though, that was the best part of the day.

other then that, the Murton 2 run scoring RBI in the 8th was pretty nice as well. Unfortunately, Mabry got out in front of the pitch by Borowski in the 9th or else the game would be in extras. *sigh* oh well. Let's hope thats one of the very few bullpen collapses we have this year.

My mother works with him, he took the whole office with him to the game. They had a blurb on cubs.com that Joe's brother got fifty tickets, so there was plenty of extras for me to grab one.

First cubs game of the year I went to. Centerfield Bleachers, right under the scoreboard.

I just wanna say, when Murton hit that single up the middle, a bunch of people I've never met before gave me high fives and slapped me on my back, and I was the happiest person in the world for a few minutes.

Next time me and my friends come we are painting Murton on our chests. (we just need to find 2 more people)

That is all.

OK I'm done with 2/3 of our outfield. I'll let you guess which 2/3.

yeah 20 games in & season's over.

Whoever said the season's over? Where did you get that from my statement? I happen to think that the Cubs can contend this year.

I just think 2/3 of our outfield suck.

Time to bring up Pie.

NO. And if you want to discuss the issue further, would you bring it up in Baseball Discussions (or would Transactions be a better forum)? This topic is becoming as popular as Don't Make Corey Leadoff for the past two years.
