Pujols is great but the Cardinals aren't going anywhere as long as their bullpen is in shambles.

Unless Al decides to play first and pitch, Bugs Bunny style.

That wouldn't surprise me at this point.

I think some of my fellow Cub fans are allowing their fan status to cloud their judgment. Sorry, but if I'm a pitcher I'd rather face Lee under any circumstance rather than Pujols. Not a knock on Lee at all, but I think Pujols right now is the best hitter in the game.

There's only been two people who have said that Lee is better than Pujols, and one of them(Vance) was obviously joking. There was some debate about who's the better defender or who had the better '05, but I don't think people are claiming what you think they are.

Thank you for the feedback, however, this isn't the first debate on this topic on this board. I'm not only referring to those (albeit two) on this thread, but I'm referring to those who already this year and last year were debating who the best was, including those who may only be reading but not posting.

I don't think anyone debated whether they'd rather have Lee than Pujols for 2006, they simply debated who had the better 2005 - and if you look at the stats, it certainly wasn't a slam-dunk choice either way.

Nice pose on that homerun when you were losing 8-1.

i liked flipping the bat 12 feet in the air. how does he not get drilled in the head for doing that?

Because if you drill him in the head, then he'll hit the ball 600 feet his next time at bat, and do a jig all the way around the bases.

With Pujols, you can't win.

You have to admit, that was a pretty [expletive] thing to do. I would have beaned him right in the [expletive] for that move.

Unless you're already up 8-0. Then you win. Or if you're the Cubs.

Well, obviously I didn't mean that the Cards are going to win every game. I meant that Pujols will get you, eventually. You don't drill a guy for celebrating. Heck, I've seen Zambrano get pumped up after a strikeout in games that he's not winning. Emotions happen. I think you're overreacting.

I doubt if anyone's stupid enough to throw at Pujols' head, whether he throws his bat in the air or not.

Of course those are two completely different things. One is getting pumped and the other ridiculous showboating. If Pujols had pumped his fast after that homerun, I wouldn't have even thought twice about it.

How is it different? Zambrano's instincts tell him to pump his fists (because he doesn't have bat to throw on the mound, maybe?). Pujols' instincts tell him to throw his bat in the air after that really good feeling of knowing that you just connected.

Ahahahahahaha. You are the biggest homer ever.

I'M a homer? Be real........ Like you haven't seen players from EVERY team get excited (and react) about a good thing, even when they're behind in a game?

I think you're reaching a little bit.

Everyone so far has agreed with me. Aramis does this from time to time and it's stupid. You see, I can say it. It's not that hard.

Jacque Jones flipped his bat after his first homer/hit...and I'm pretty sure there were quite a few on this board that called him out for it being out of line.

Did anyone suggest that a pitcher throw at his head?

Honestly, I would prefer that he (Pujols) react more like Rolen, but suggesting that someone throw a ball at his head is a little extreme.

Maybe not his head, but surely he should get one aimed for the posterior.

Furthermore, it's one thing to show emotion or flip a bat on a homer that makes a difference. When you're team is down 8-2, you really should act like you've been there.

If you need a reason to hate him, that's about as good a reason as any.

Agreed...that's out of line. Wouldn't mind a toss behind the back though...

Whoops...it slipped... :P

I need none.

pujols better not see anything to hit today. rolen is out of the lineup and some old guy in jim edmonds' uniform is hitting behind him. their lineup is not that good.

Well, the "old guy" just homered in his first at bat.
