just like last year, we can compete against the Cardinals, but then struggle against the Reds. We really need to get 2 of 3 from the Pirates this weekend.

Calm down, it's ok. It's only April. We don't "Need" anything right now, but yes it would be nice to take 2/3.

Yay...Ohman got someone out.

Why you doggin on Ohman? He was lights out all last year. He had one bad outing last time.

I could be mistaken, but I don't think he's been that great since he came back from the injury.

Your mistaken. Ohman's been great out of the pen.

His ERA is 27.00 including today and the first game of this series.

This one takes the cake.

It doesn't help when we had Pagan, Neifi, and Blanco all in the lineup on the same day (the terrible pitching not withstanding).

I'm still happy with a 5-3 record, sans Wood and Prior.
Did anyone expect today's lineup to score alot of runs?

nope not really. I really hope Ramirez is back in the lineup tomorrow.

A game in April is just as important as a game in September. Yeah, you can go on winning streaks, but you'll never be able to remove a game from your loss column that took place in April.

Much like the Brewers the last few years, if the Reds played as hard against the rest of the league as they do against the Cubs, they'd win the division.

this is very true. the difference the past couple years between the Cubs and Cards is in large part how they did against those two teams.

I think the Brewers have won 5 games against the Cards the past three season. the Reds lost something like 14 in a row to them until late last year.

I understand that, but if you lose in april you can make it up later. If you lose later on, you have less games to make up that loss.

I've gotta say, it seems like DLee is getting the star treatment from this ump. Then again, he IS working on a .515 on-base percentage.

I'm happy with a 500 record until we get them back.

No, but I expected our pitching staff to pitch well, considering our ace was on the mound.

exactly. If we're .500+ after May 1, I'll be happy.

Can't really gripe about the record, but the way they've gotten it is somewhat disturbing. If the Cubs can't hit mediocre to moribund laft-handed pitching any better than this (ala the last few years), they're going to have a lot of problems. I just hope the last few days were aberations, not the norm.
