How's he doing in the minors so far? It cant be any worse off than Rusch.

He's had 1 start: 5 IP, 2 H, 6 K, 1 BB, 0.00 ERA.

Meanwhile, Rusch in 9 IP: 11 H, 6 K, 3 BB, 6 HR, 8.00 ERA.

Yeah, I think I'm in.

So what's the way to convert minor league stats into major league?

i think williams will get the 1st shot after rusch and then hill if williams tanks. hendry & dusty have already said that guzman needs to work more innings in the minors to build up his strength before he gets a shot at the ML. i doubt he will get called up before Sept. when wood/prior/miller get back i would think one or both of williams/rusch will get traded.

Well, I'm in too. I thought the kid had good stuff in the few spring training games I watched. And good Lord, Pie has 11 RBI's in 21 at bats?

In an article this week (can't remember which, can ayone help?) Rothchild was asked if Guzman would be a late season callup and he replied (perhaps jokingly) that it could be later this month.

It was the Gammons InSider article quoting Hendry who was probably kidding at the time. But after this start by Rusch perhaps he'll consider it more soberly.

"Angel Guzman, 23, once a prize in the class of a Zambrano, made a significant comeback this spring. "His velocity was back up to 95-96," Rothschild says. As he pitches at Iowa, Guzman will be closely monitored for his command, especially of his breaking ball. When asked if Guzman could help by midseason, Hendry laughed and said, "It could be by the end of this month."

i'd obviously prefer guzman to rusch. you know what you're getting with rusch -- crappiness. guzman could struggle, but at least there's potential. i'd take hill too (6 ip, 3 h, 1 er, 6 k's last night).

Not that I want Rusch on the team...

...but is it really wise to make such a brash move based on 2 starts?

i'd make it based on his previous 200 starts.

And 0 BB. When he doesn't walk people, he does very well. Hopefully his early ST outtings weren't indicative of this season.
