Stupid question. Why was Griffey not out because of the infield fly rule? There was a runner on base and the SS was basically camped under the ball. What am I missing here?

 

I realize the ball actually landed in the outfield grass, but it wasn't by all that much and I've seen the infield fly rule called there before.

 

Not that it means a whole at this point anymore... ](*,)

there was no one on base, Griffey was the 1st man up this inning.

 

and yet another HR. Give me a BREAK.

Maybe we should try this hitting the ball in the air thing...it seems to be effective.

 

Or maybe we should hit off of our pitchers...that seems to work too.

And there has to be at least two guys on base for it to apply.
