Mike Shannon is an american hero and probably drunk. Plus he has called Maddux Maddox since he has been in the league.

i dont think you should open the can of worms about announcers and alcohol

I wasn't aware that was a big deal. It's no secret that Mike loves him some cold frosty ones.

Isn't it "check yourself before you wreck yourself"?

As a lifelong Packer season ticket holder, I can tell you with great confidence that Mike Sherman is completely [expletive].

An American hero - really? Does Mike Shannon rescue people from burning buildings and uncover terrorist plots when he's not three sheets to the wind, howling on the radio?

Maybe that "get up ball, get up" yell that he likes to spit out cures athlete's foot phonically over the radio, and that qualifies him as a hero. Or maybe he's just loaded again, continuing to ride Jack Buck's coattails and making me appreciate Pat Hughes more and more every time I hear him fawning over another Edmonds faux-acrobatic catch.

No sir . . . I don't like the man.

Don't hate. Mike is just a simple man who loves him a ham sandwich and a cold frosty, ice cold Bud Light. For a taste that won't fill ya up and never lets ya down, make it a Bud Light.

Yeah you think he's bad, but to me he is delightfully and endearingly bad (IE Ron Santo). Rooney is a great balance.

I totally understand the Santo-Shannon remark. I go around and around with my Cardinals-fan "friends" about it. Strangely, I've also run into many Cards fans who don't really like Shannon either. I think he just rubs some people the wrong way.

At least this thread isn't about Hrabosky . . . I couldn't contain my vitriol if it were.

Mike Shannon is a beautiful man. Anyone who doesn't get that is missing the point.

And it's "get up baby, get up," not "get up ball, get up."

Actually, he says both . . . and often.

And if "beautiful man" = "obnoxious drunk in a loud Hawaiian shirt carelessly given a live mic", then Mike Shannon claims first prize in a beauty contest and the $10.

seconded.

Sherman definitely did a number on the Packers as GM.

I agree but I don't see the o-coordinator from one of the worst offenses in the league doing much better, especially if Brett keeps skirting around retirement until the last minute and leaving us with Rogers or god knows who starting.

edit-was referring to his job as the coach even though the previous post was referring to his job as GM (there is nothing to even discuss regarding how horrible he was in that position)

Really? I don't recall ever hearing that latter, and I've heard a whole lot of Shannon, but I could be wrong.

Mike Shannon is awesome. End of discussion.

From their website: "His many years with the organization give Shannon a unique insight in his commentary."

Let's be honest as to where that insight is REALLY coming from.
