That's my point. You can't use lack of confidence in one pitcher as an excuse to misuse another. If the guy is on the team, and you've clearly given him the role, use him. Don't carry a long man if you are afraid to use him with a 6 run lead in a game when your pen was hit early.

I have to admit, speed has really changed this offense. Of course, part of the problem is the Reds defenders but they are all hurrying their throws because they know the guys are fast.

Using your best lefty with a 6 run lead for two innings is unnecessary to me. Looking long range, I'd rather work the other pen arms in that situation. Eyre may be able to pitch in +70 games, but you still have to choose which ones to use him in.
