It looks even MORE like GABP now. Jeeze.

Well, since HOK Sport has designed most of the stadiums (including GABP) over the last 15 years, that's going to happen. Off the top of my head I think that Safeco Field is about the only new baseball place they didn't design.

yea, that's pretty generic looking....but still about a million times better looking than the last ballpark

Is the UD bleacher like seating? If so, that is a horrible idea. I hope they just aren't done putting seats in yet, because it looks awful.

That upper section will have seats, but it won't be done for opening day. They have been saying all along that they wouldn't have everything done on the LF side until the AS break.

The grassy incline just past the CF wall is exactly the same @ GABP.

One thing I do like about the new stadium opposed to the old, is that it is not enclosed from RF to LF.

Great America Ball Park is a great place to watch a game......... one of the most comfortable I've been in. If the new Busch is similar, I'm happy.

The uniqueness is in the product on the field, I think.

Plans for the new Washington Nationals park look exactly like Busch III and GABP. We've replaced donut-shaped cookie cutter stadiums with these now. In 10 years someone will build a perfectly circular multi-sport dome and people will think it's great and retro.

I don't see what you guys are talking about.

The interior is completely different. The bleachers, bullpens, scorboards and overall dimensions are different.

The exterior couldn't be more different. GABP is all steel girders vs the brick of the New Busch. (not to mention Busch doesn't have riverboat smokestacks...)

Yeah, they're both new. They both have baseball diamonds. Other than that I don't see the comparison. Do they need to put a swimming pool or a train in the outfield?

All I know is that I've been to GABP about a dozen times, and when I saw those pics of Busch II it immediately reminded me of GABP. I'm not saying Busch II will be a bad place to watch a baseball game, but the stadium does seem bland and uninteresting, like GABP. A ballpark should have some character, and I don't see any in Busch II.

The inside configuration is very similar. Look at the geometrics of the stands along the third base line. It's almost identical. But like I said, there's nothing wrong with that.......... GA is a terrific place to watch baseball. You only need bells & whistles (trains, hills in the outfield, etc.) if the product on the field isn't very appealing. That's not the case in St. Louis.

But you're right....... they're both baseball stadiums, so there will certainly be alot of similarities. You're also right that Busch is MUCH more appealing on the outside.

It's the third place to be called Busch Stadium so the name should be Busch III. The old Sportsman's Park was called Busch Stadium in the late 50's and early 60's until the 'Cards moved to the concrete donut that was also called Busch Stadium.

BTW: doesn't this look familiar?

To me, the only park that the Nationals new one looks even close to is Shea Stadium. I see no similarities to Busch III at all (other than the field itself obviously).

The LF UD will have seats, probably by opening day. But those sections will probably still be closed off for a while. It sounds like that part of the stadium will be opened by the middle of May or so. Not crazy about seeing a few sections of empty seats of opening day, but until everything checks out, I understand why it has to be that way. I'm sure there will be a lot of crying about all the empty seats on opening day though by people who think that jsut because the seats are there, they should sell them.

Will it cost extra to get one of the seats with a view of beautiful downtown East St. Louis Illinois? :)

There, fixed it.

BTW: that sucking sound you're hearing? That's your Chicago tax dollars traveling down I-55, past Springfield and heading downstate to East St. Louis

Then again: Illinois may be stuck with East St. Louis, but at least Indiana gets stuck with Gary.

The stadium isn't even DONE yet. Maybe the 15 National League pennants and 9 World Series banners will give it "character"?

What would give it more "character"? A mound in center field? A train track above the outfield? Ivy on the wall? A roof? A roller coaster in the bleacher section? No thanks. It's a baseball stadium, in it's purest form........ and is expected to be as comfortable as any stadium in baseball. That's fine, by me.

What will give it character is the bestest most knowledgable fans in sports. :pukel:
