Bad news.........................Kruk picks big Z to with the NL Cy Young this year. For those who have forgotten this is the Moran that picked Randy Johnson to win 30 games at this time last year.

Looking at it from a national perspective and not a Cub fan's, it is somewhat bold to predict Zambrano to win the Cy Young considering he finished 10th in ERA, only had 14 wins last year, and is regarded as the third most important pitcher on the Cubs behind Wood and Prior.

Yes, he's regarded as the third most important pitcher on the Cubs, but if I had to pick the best of those 3, I'd pick Zambrano.

Even if all 3 are healthy Z is probably the best of them...

I was by no means saying that I thought Zambrano was the third best pitcher on the Cubs. My point was that if you asked a bunch of casual fans to name two Cubs pitchers, they would probably name Wood and Prior. For that matter, more people might name Maddux than Zambrano as well.

For my personal opinion I think, when all are healthy, Zambrano and Prior are 1 and 1a as far as which is the best. Obviously if you factor in health, at least so far, Zambrano is the best pitcher on the Cubs.

All three healthy, I'd really have to take Prior over Z.

Heck, if we're throwing that health qualifier in, a case can even be made for Wood. He's next to unhittable when he's actually on the mound.

I guess a case could be made for any of the three. If only it weren't for damn health thing...

Am I the only person on this board who kind of likes Kruk?

No you're not. But it's very popular to bash BBT personalities and assume all ex-player analysts/color commentators know less about the game then they do.

Kruk is a neanderthal. Most ex-players know what they are talking about. Kruk was signed for that "average joe" appeal, not for baseball knowledge.

I find Kruk entertaining. As a baseball player, he was fun to watch. That being said though, he's not a great analysis. I'm sure he can bring a perspective that few of us have, but I wouldn't put much stock in his predictions or analysis of the game.

If he wants to share stories of back in the day, I'd be happy to listen.

I agree with you that his value on BBT is as an entertainer more than an expert. They have other guys to satisfy that role.

But it doesn't mean Kruk is a complete baseball idiot.

He's not a COMPLETE baseball idiot. If you look at the stats, he was actually a very smart hitter.

Other than that though, he's a baseball idiot.

Rob Dibble on the Show on XM a few weeks ago said the Cubs would win at least 90 games this season.

Damn. I was hoping we'd be completely overlooked by everyone coming into the season, as happened in 2003.

What are you talking about? Prior wasn't the one with a .750 OPS last year. You are out of your mind!

Seriously though, I'd have to go with Z, but you can't argue with someone for taking a healthy Prior. Any pitcher who can post a 18-6 record with a 2.43 ERA on a team who couldn't score runs is a worthy #1 pick on any team.

He's not even good at that. Aside from being an idiot, he comes across as an arrogant, pompous, self-conceited jerk who is sarcastic 99% of the time.

Harold may be an even bigger idiot, but at least he doesn't rub me the wrong way.
