I still maintain his double plunking of Jim Edmonds was one of the greatest moments in recent Cubs history. I couldn't stop laughing when it happened.
The best part of that was his reaction to getting ejected from the game.

He just kind of threw up his hand and said "nah."

He knew it was worth it.

TLR whining about it was great, especially considering he's admitted to ordering his pitchers to throw at guys in the past.

I respect the love for Zman, but lets remember that the Cubs lost this game and Zman was ejected.

We were losing when he was ejected (5-3 or 6-3, can't remember). It didn't keep us from the playoffs and I don't remember the loss so much as Edmonds getting what he deserved.

What he deserved? I don't get Cubs fans obsession with hating Edmonds, especially considering he was only 1 of 3 Cards to hit HR's that night, and like it or not, Edmonds smoked that HR. It was gone immediately.

(Sorry to hijack the Z love thread.)

If anyone was to blame for that game, it was Waivin' Wendall, not Z.

Why do I hate Edmonds? Mr. Time and Dive. He's a showman, not a baseball player. What do showboaters get in baseball? That's right, a fastball to the ribs.

Aramis's antics (and Sammy's) irritate me too. If I was a pitcher they'd be getting the same treatment Edmonds got from Z. If it wasn't for the strong arms protecting them, they probably would have been hit a lot more.

I am not going to deny that Edmonds showboats, but he gets the job done. Z man does his fair share of showboating too, and I don't hear many (any) Cubs fans dogging him about it.

Hey, if someone doesn't like his on the mound antics (talking to himself or the sky, not the batters), then they can throw at him when he steps in the box. This isn't the AL. If anyone wants to play beanball war with Z, go for it. Z doesn't need to hide behind a DH, especially when he can hit .300.

I have to admit that when I go to the friendly confines I enjoy seeing him pitch. I don't really hate him, I drool over how much talent he has. I really hope Dusty doesn't ruin that golden arm of his.

I've changed my prediction that Prior and Pujols will be the historic match-up the 2000s rivalry. Big Z vs Albert are the at bats I look forward to now.

I don't think Pujols has very good #'s against him either.

Not many people do. That's what makes it fun. :)

I'm not sure Dusty CAN ruin Carlos's arm. Lord knows he's tried to run him into the ground at various points over the last two seasons, but Carlos just keeps throwing and never seems to have any trouble. That's what I love about the guy. He's an old-fashioned horse and he wants to pitch a complete game every single time out.

Z's nemesis is Jason Bay, as memory serves me.

Also, Rolen was the guy who murdered the Cubs in that game. I remember being really pissed off about that inning since Z looked gassed, but Dusty didn't take him out for whatever reason. Moreover, he didn't have anyone warming up in the bullpen in case Z ran into trouble (which was possible given Pujols-Rolen-Edmonds was due up). The game was either tied or the Cubs had the lead when Z basically ran out of gas against Rolen and served up a game-breaking HR. With Remlinger not even ready to go (can't remember if he even was warming up at that point), Z basically decided, "screw it" and plunked Edmonds, knowing he'd get ejected.

It was a smart move, to boot, since Remlinger got all the time he needed to warm up after Z was ejected and also because Z only allowed one base to Edmonds, which I would have taken at the time.

While I can't stand guys like Edmonds and Pujols, Rolen...damn. He's one of those guys you can't help but respect and even admire. When it comes to Edmonds, he's one of those guys who makes it really easy to root against the Cardinals. That's what made that moment so special. :D

Yeah last year he had a Jason Bay card taped in his locker! Another reason to love Carlos.

Given the choice between a lifetime of sex with all three of the Dahm triplets and a lifetime of watching Carlos pitch, I would choose watching Carlos and settle for sex with just Nicole. Believe it.

I love watching Big Z pitch, but after Google guided me to the beauty of the Dahm triplets, I'd have to say I'd choose them, without a doubt.

I like Zambrano, but if you're talking about a life time of sex with the Dahm sisters...that would be pretty hard to pass up.

I was at the game, as well. Nothing like horror and profanity followed by hard laughter in person.

Of course, now that I think about it, I don't think that was one of his triples. I think he was going first to third.

Yeah, he was going from first to third.

I believe the triple was in the same game, though.

Carlos tripled on April 20 @ St. Louis and August 28 (Ryno Day!) vs. Florida. The first-to-third slide in that photo is from April 9 vs. Milwaukee.

WOW looks like the DR will probably face both Johan and Z on the same day

Zambrano threw three innings, facing Adam Greenberg, Felix Pie and Geovany Soto, at Fitch Park. Cubs manager Dusty Baker said the plan is to get the right-hander in line to start Thursday against Oakland in the Spring Training opener. Zambrano would then fly to Orlando, Fla., to work out with Team Venezuela and be in line to pitch in the first game March 7 against the Dominican Republic.

"We were told he would pitch sometime in that first game -- possibly," Baker said.

Now that would be a TV event. Good thing I should have that afternoon free.
