That's very good news as he did get drained from physical fatigue moreso than arm fatigue more times than not.

I doubt weight loss has much to do w/velocity, but if his condition program has improved, hopefully his strength program has improved as well.

Seems like Rusch found it, then. Here's hoping fatty can pitch like it's 2004, though.

Williams is going to beat Rusch out for a spot in the rotation.

I hope your right. Although Rusch is better as a starter, I'd rather see him as a long reliever than give him a rotation spot over Williams. Jerome has the potential to be a solid #4 opr #5 starter this year.

Per Ofman: Jerome Williams lost 20 pounds.

Between this and Z losing "at least" 15 pounds, I think the rotation might be well-off this season.

Possibly. You gotta wonder how long Wood will be out, and if Prior can avoid the bad luck he's ran into the past few seasons.

Sadly as in '05 in is not a given that talent is going to dictate who is in the rotation :(.

What about Wade? If healthy, he needs to be in the rotation. Who does he bump (if >85% healthy), and what chances do you give him of being healthy enough to pitch by the break?

I say, 60%...and I like that.

Being healthy is one thing, Wade also has to be effective.

At the moment, according to Cubs.com, Miller isn't on the 40-man roster and is not expected to be fully ready to go until May at the earliest, so being healthy by the break is predictable, but working Miller into the rotation would only come after he has recaptured his previous form and there is no way to judge the likelihood of that happening right now.

Well, everyone is talking about Wood's return, and at the top of their games, the two pitchers are pretty similar. I don't understand why the reports are always about Wood being hopefully heathy when a heathy Wood...er, I mean Wade is the same thing.

Wood and Wade aren't similar pitchers. Wood has much better stuff. His K-rate and WHIP are a notch above Miller's. Willer isn't bad by any stretch of the imagination, but Wood is dominating.

Isn't this Miller's first lengthy stint on the DL?

Agreed. Wood puts up better K/9 rates, better K/BB rates, and better WHIPs than Miller.

That's not a criticism of Miller so much as it is a reminder of how good Wood can be when he's healthy.

Miller only pitched 89 innings in 04 and 91 innings in 05. He's had at least two stays on the DL.

I won't argue that Wade is better than Kerry, but how much better is he? One more win for the Cubs over the season? Three tops? I just surprised that no one mentioned him in all of the pitcher conversation this threat had,

He doesn't look all that much different than last year, at least from this pic.

Zambrano looks almost too thin.
