Now that the Reds have fired their GM, it's time to make a move for Dunn again.

The Reds need pitching. They need lots of it.

Here's the proposal:

Hill, Wellemeyer, Williams, and Murton for Dunn.

The Reds get a high ceiling pitcher in Hill, a major league ready number three starter in Williams, and a reliever in Welly. Murton is a replacement for Dunn. If the Reds don't want Murton, replace him with a lower level high ceiling prospect like Harvey or Dopirak. Allow them to replace either Hill or Williams with Guzman.

This would be a good deal.

But I think the Reds were going to use Dunn at 1B? Throw in Sing, take out Murton?

I guess I'd rather deal Pie and Hill than give up Matty, Williams, et al.

I am preparing to get savaged for that one.

Not from me, I'm right there with you. I'd rather keep Williams and Murton than Pie and Hill, for many reasons. You're more likely to get an impact player for Pie/Hill, Murton/Williams are more suited to contributing right now, which is our window while Z, Prior, Aramis and Lee are relatively young and under contract. Plus, I think in 25 years Murton will be the better OF, and I think Williams is criminally undervalued.

I'm not sure Sing is on level with Murton.

I could see the Reds having interest in Dopirak. They could sign a player like Frank Thomas or make a deal for a possible 1b to play in the meantime. The one problem they would have is replacing Dunn at first as they really don't have anyone to man the position currently.

They will want a front-line starter like Z or Prior, just like what Philly & Baltimore asked for their top offensive players.

You have a lot of faith in Murton, do you?

Well, I meant like when both their careers are long over with, but it looks a little funny the way I wrote it.

But you never know. Maybe Murton will pull a Franco and play til he's 50.

if we signed Jeff Weaver I would do it in a heartbeat.

Prior

Zambrano

Maddux

Rusch

Guzman/Koronka/Brownlie/ Valdez

That five spot in the rotation could cost a bunch of wins that first month although Koronka has thrown well. I put Brownlie in the mix I just saw his name mentioned as a shot at making the rotation in the papers or Cubs.com. I don't think Valdez is ready for the bigs and I really want to take baby steps with Guzman. Going with a four man staff until Wood or Miller makes me think they would be rushed back and putting any more strain on Z with him already playing the WBC is a really bad idea. If you deal Hill and Williams Weaver at one year deal would be nice.

Pierre

Walker

Lee

Dunn

Ramirez

Jones

Barrett

Cedeno

Has some balance and speed and power throughout.

Prior

Wood

Zambraon

Maddux

Weaver

Miller and Rusch spot starters or trade bait

EVERYBODY STOP. PLEASE, STOP MAKING RATIONAL TRADE PROPOSALS. STOOOOOOP.

Honestly whatever you have against dunn proposals is getting sick. If you dont want to hear about them, stop opening threads entitled "New Adam Dunn Proposal" and threads of the like.

if Dunn was going to be traded, then he would've been traded when the Reds had 4 OF and sean casey. he's not goin anywhere now, so why don't you guys switch your man-crush to someone else. someone that doesn't hit .240 preferably.

Why do you care?

If the Reds are considering trading Kearns for a non-OF, they obviously still see a surplus there. I think that Dunn's unlikely to be traded, but he's been rumored to be on the block before, and he's been linked to the Cubs in those rumors before.

On a side note, Dunn does more with his .240 than the vast majority of players do with .300.

yeah, he's the greatest .240 hitter EVER

I dunno, maybe he is. Believe what you want I guess. Dunn doesn't get a ton of hits, but he still reaches base more than most people because of walks. He also hits for more extra bases than most, even though he doesn't get as many hits as most.

Low batting average, high strikeout total, I don't need to see anything else!

I fail to see the problem with adding a player who will get on base 40% of the time and put up a .900+ OPS. He easily would be the best offensive outfielder on the team. Is there something wrong with making the team better?

the thing is that i WOULD like it if Dunn was on the Cubs. but a lot of people on here make him out to be something he's not. there are lots other guys they could be making "hey i got some new trade ideas" forums.

Who would you suggest? And I ask that seriously.

Adam Dunn has a career 901 OPS. He's 26 years old. Name me some other hitters under 27 that have a 900+ career OPS. Pujols, Cabrera, and who else?

Last season his OPS was 927. Of qualified OF, only 9 had higher OPS than Dunn last year.

Tha list includes: Manny, Jason Bay, Vlad, Cabrera, Griffey, Berkman, Jones, Edmonds, and Giles.

Dunn had a 387 OBP last year. Once again, only 9 OF with enough AB's to qualify had higher. That list includes Giles, Berkman,Abreu, Bay, Vlad, Burrell, Manny, Cabrera, and Edmonds.

Of those two lists, many of those guys aren't available. If any were, I'd happily take them.

Dunn would make a huge difference in this line-up. It would turn it's main weakness into a strength.
