I would like Frazier. He has a history with Rivera in the Philly system, as well as time served under Marvin Lewis when he was defensive coordinator, which is good experience.

The NFL just remembered that Desmond Clark is one of the worst TE's in the NFL.

http://www.chicagobears.com/news/newsDetail.jsp?id=13963

That is weird, especially since he was replaced by a long snapper.

The article says that Clark was mistakenly put on the team as a long snapper.

I can honestly say Clark sucks. I would be one happy person if he was cut. He is overpaid for what he does if you ask me.

I completley disagree on this sentiment. He does not suck. He's no stud, but the Bears offensive game plan completely ignores TEs, and the QBs have been awful the past couple of years. Most TE struggles are due to team struggles on the Bears.

He's bad. He gets little separation in passing routes, drops catchable balls, and is only an average blocker. I think one of the main reasons we don't untilize TE's is because we lack talent in that position. I guess it's a "what came first the chicken or the egg" type thing.

Edit: However, I'm now with you in that I no longer think we should go TE in the first. We should be able to get a talented one in the second as this is a good TE draft. I think we should look at BPA amongst a few positions with our first.

That's what I want. The Bears have too many needs to simply take the best TE available, and a TE isn't going to be the difference between 1 and done and a long postseason run. They need defensive backfield help, linebacker help, pass rush help and offensive line help. Offensive playmakers alone won't get the job done, not without making the O line younger.

I'm wondering if this Super Bowl will prove to any doubters that you don't need a $100 million QB, or a super QB performance to win the big game. Very few of the SB QBs, win or lose, have been great ones this decade. Only Warner and Brady were MVP types, with Kurt being in the right place at the right time flash-in-the-pan and Tom not being much more than an elite game manager (sorry, I hate that phrase, but it fits with Brady whose job has been to put his team in a position to kick a late field goal to win it).

It would be nice to see the media stop putting so much of the focus on Rex's arm. But more importantly, I'd like to see Angelo and Co. try and build the best team possible without focusing too heavily on any one position. Yes, it would be nice to get some more weapons for the QB, but the Bears hopes do not lie solely on Rex Grossman's progression. They could have won this year with the same Rex, and they can win even if Rex doesn't improve much next year.

Don't get complacent thinking the defense is set and doesn't need any help or that the offensive line is perfectly fine and doesn't need tinkering. Don't think one offensive weapon, in this case a TE, is going to be the difference next year. Get a receiver or two in the draft and free agency, but add a defensive playmaker whenever possible and get some youth and depth on the line.

My hope is that they make the defense even stronger next year, and just add some all-around modest improvements on offense, because no one big threat will change this from an at-best, average offense.

The Bears re-signed Lennie Friedman to a one-year/$600,000 deal and expect to sign John St. Clair to a three-year extension pretty soon.

Never heard of Lennie Friedman.

he played a lot of DT in the last game of the regular season. he's pretty much a backup OL that's somewhat serviceable in that he's versatile.

I am really concerned that this is what the Bears are considering o line depth. I want them to get some younger guys who will be capable of being solid starters in a year or two. These guys are just roster filler.

I dunno, Angelo has talked a lot in the past about the fact that he believes success on the field is due mainly to controlling both lines. I feel reasonably comfortable that he'll draft a guy or two that can do exactly that.

Looks like English used the Bears to get enough leverage to be offered the Michigan D-Coord job. Shady.

Yeah, I don't like how this worked. English's name came up late in the process, and he got the job right away before backing out. And at the same time, Tampa just signed their defensive backs coach from USC, while the Lions finally got Martz in the fold for their offensive coordinator position.

Jerry Angelo had 2 Q&A sessions on Chicagobears.com. Check them out. Besides all the vague stuff, he does say: 1)Rex will be the starter going into Training Camp 2)He wont even take a "needs" list into the draft. He will take BPA 3) Liked how Lewis (TE) Cutler (QB) Moss (WR) played in the Senior Bowl. 4)Looks like he has some interest in Moss 5)Says this crop of LBers is the deepest he's seen 5)Looks like we will be getting a saftey on Day 2.

It's looking more and more like Randel El is ours to lose. From ESPN:

Antwaan Randle El indicated to the Chicago Tribune that the Bears might be at the top of his free-agent shopping list.

"Certainly my family members want me to come here and play here. Also my friends and those who are involved in marketing and that sort of thing," Randle El told the paper.

We need at TE, a number 2 WR/KR/PR, and another CB preferably a veteren.

TE=Fasano the Notre Dame guy or the Virginia guy are supposed to be late 1st round picks

CB= no idea we'd need to make a trade or hope for a free agent i dont know whos avaiable

WR/KR/PR or QB  = Atoine Randle El

Thats what im hoping in the offseason

What Virginia TE?

Pope (Georgia) should be a late first rounder; Lewis (UCLA) might sneak in. I'd guess Lewis, Fasano (ND) and Byrd (USC) should be second or even third rounders.

The Jets are releasing Ty Law.

A lot of people are pushing for depth in the secondary, Law would clearly add that at cornerback. He'll come at a pretty steep price and he isn't getting any younger, but he's still a very good CB.

I would absolutely be interested in Ty Law if he's available for a reasonable price. He wasn't great at the start of the season but as the season went on he played better and better. That Jets secondary was good and he was one of the reasons why. I think he'd be a great get if we could get him.

Law has never been at a reasonable price.
