I guess this will end the Soriano speculation.

I didn't buy that anyway.

I have to say that while I acknowledge the reasons behind the move, I would have done differently.

I think the lesson the Cub outfielders need to learn from this is to not fall out of favor with management/fans. We'll send you to Baltimore.

Maybe Corey can have Sammy's old locker.

Man. If we got two minor leaguers for him, I really can't imagine them being that good. Unless the other teams' interest really pushed up the price, I guess.

The board is going to crash....

...and good luck, Corey. I hope you turn it around!

I'm here and prepared to race to fix it this afternoon.

Changing the sig now...

Good luck Corey, hope you do well. I know I will miss ya. Could you please torment the White Sox for the next 10 some odd years now?

Time to pick up Corey stuff on ebay

I got an autographed Patterson Jersey I could offer ya

I got a Patterson All Star 2003 jersey as well. Can we hope that Eric comes up to the bigs and takes Corey's number? That would save me some money. lol!

Right now I'd give what people are selling his stuff on ebay for. Not exactly a high dollar risk at this point.

The Cubs were smart in trading Corey to the AL, ha ha

A sad day for a lot of Cub fans. It really seemed that Patterson had turned the corner in the spring and early summer of 2003. His offensive decline has been well documented, but I was hoping it wasn't too late for him to turn it around. I wish him well and hope he has a great career in Baltimore.

Baseball America's Will Lingo on Nate Spears:

" That's an interesting comparison between Spears and Roberts. I went back and looked at our report on Roberts when he was No. 10 on the Orioles list before the 2001 season, and here's what it says: "His tools aren't overwhelming, but the package is greater than the sum of its parts." That's a lot like what we say about Nate Spears now, though Roberts' tools back then probably graded a shade ahead of Spears' across the board. The Orioles prospect list is also stouter now than it was then. But if you're asking me to guess, then no, I don't think Spears will develop power and I think he'll be a utility guy."

Mods, go ahead and edit if I included too much.

Spears will turn 21 in May. He played at high A last season and hit 294/349/429. He's listed as a SS. In 2004, at low A, he hit 275/358/407.

Perez will be 24 in May and pitched at class A last season. I can't find much to like about him.

He had a 4.28 ERA there and was old for the league. He's a 6'1'' lefty, but I don't see much to be excited about here.

Spears could be a decent prospect. Perez is roster filler.
