It's a good thing Peyton didn't throw short for the first on 3 and 2, or hell even run. You had 2 time outs left. But then again, I guess without saving them you can't make them snap the ball three times at the end instead of 1. Until Peyton starts to really trust his RB he is never going to win it all.

When was the last time the best NFL team has won the Super Bowl? But unfortunately football is to rough a sport, to have a series format. I mean if the Steelers had beat the Colts three out of 5 times, you can't really argue that the best team didn't win, off games are can happen to even the best team. I can't remember the last team that was the best in the NFL won, maybe the Rams in 1999, thats 7 years.

TERRIBLE CALL

While I must admit the evidence wasn't indisputable, Potamalu, didn't have possession before he hit, the ground, he gathered possesion while on the ground roled over, and got up at the same time, his knee hit the ball, is rolling on the ground a football move? I always thought a football move had to be made while standing up, I'm emotionally drained for the second year in the row, I invest to much energy in my favorite teams, like the Cubs, and Colts, and Bears. I feel horrible.

I am so relieved with this result.

I am also relieved that Steelers' nemesis New England were eliminated last night.

:D - Steelers are going to Denver!

Manning cries about his lineman...he's lucky he doesn't get hit more, what a wuss.

His linemen did a dreadful job against the blitz at the end of the game.

And I'd love that "wuss" on my team any day of the week.

Well Good luck to the Panthers (ndistops) but I predict a Super Bowl in the Seahawks future! Can't wait for next week. Should be a good game!

And good luck to you as well, Huber. Look forward to a nice back-and-forth conversation during the game on Sunday. None of these Bears fans will care about the game.

Whichever one of us wins is probably going to end up clashing with Jazz a few weeks later :D

They protect him better than any other team protects their QB and when it breaks down it's time for him to earn his money and step up when it fails and not blame them for the bad game. I do not think that's the way to act for a leader of the team. Florida (SEC), New England and now Pittsburg didn't give Manning 10 seconds to throw like many other teams do and that is the way to beat him. You put him on the Titans and he gets sacked more than Carr.

They lost to 3 teams that ran a 3-4 defense. Maybe it's time they devise a better gameplan the next time they face one.

For the record, he kept them in that game with sending the punt team back onto the sideline and basically overriding Dungy.

And we'll disagree about his protection: it was awful. Its usually pretty good, but it doesn't usually have to be great because he's amazing at getting rid of the football in a timely fashion.

But at some point, he's gotta drop the Marino Tag.

With the way that Delhomme was running around whopping it up after the game, put me (a Bears fan) firmly on the Seahawks side next weekend.

Yeah, me too.

I hope the Bears players saw that and were pissed.

Hmm, sounds like "Cardinals/Zambrano" syndrome - Delhomme has the same competitive fire. But to each their own.

And count me on the Steelers' side as well - we have a better shot at stopping their running game - should we get that far - than we do Denver's.

What I'd like to see Mark is have Peyton step up when the line is having a bad and make some plays and yeah the blocking wasn't that great but that happens. He had the protection most QB's have in a game and it seems to me that when that happens he is quite average. The way to beat the Colts is to do exactly what Pittsburg did...diguise the blitz and coverage and double up on Harrison. If the D has some decent D backfield and LB's they can cover the rest of the Colts. Once you force Manning out of the pocket he's done.

The thing is, Marino played with a less talented team. Peyton is still quite the baller, but he's going to be 30 soon.

SportsNetwork.com[/url]"]New York, NY (Sports Network) - National Football League vice president of officiating Mike Pereira on Monday issued a statement regarding the controversial reversal on Troy Polamalu's interception during Pittsburgh's 21-18 win over Indianapolis in Sunday's AFC divisional playoff game at the RCA Dome.

In the statement, Pereira stated the officiating crew made the wrong call.

"The definition of a catch -- or in this case an interception -- states that in the process of making a catch a player must maintain possession of the ball after he contacts the ground," said Pereira. "The initial call on the field was that Troy Polamalu intercepted the pass because he maintained possession of the ball after hitting the ground.

"The replay showed that Polamalu had rolled over and was rising to his feet when the ball came loose. He maintained possession long enough to establish a catch. Therefore, the replay review should have upheld the call on the field that it was a catch and fumble.

"The rule regarding the performing of an act common to the game applies when there is contact with a defensive player and the ball comes loose, which did not happen here."

I don't know how much conversation I will be able to carry 'cause I will be working, but I will check in all afternoon to root for the Seahawks! I can't believe the criticsm Hasselback is getting. The best QB in the NFC and 2nd highest rating to Palmer this season and he is ranked 4th best QB left in the playoffs.

Stupid ESPN.
