Bo Ryan maybe the biggest crybaby that I have ever seen, and this is in a game where his team has been called for less fouls then the Illini.

There are a lot of them in the Big Ten. Weber, Davis, Ryan, Izzo and Monson are all pretty bad.

I don't think there's anyone who can work the refs and get more calls than Izzo though.

I haven't seen much of Monson, and I don't think Davis and Weber are that bad. Ryan is the worst IMO.

You don't think Davis and Weber are bad? Davis has that constant look on his face like he's either in pain or going to cry. Both he and Weber stare in disbelief with their mouths wide open after nearly every foul call on their team.

Purdue, PSU, and NU's combined home record is 3-6 with their wins against Minnesota and Purdue twice. They're easy wins.
PSU isn't all that bad this year. They almost beat Iowa in State College and gave MSU a run in Breslin. Purdue and NW will likely be easy, but I can see PSU giving WIsky some trouble.

that would be a first, seeing as how nobody has scored 20 on randle yet, and he always draws the opposing team's best offensive player.

Even if that player is a guard? Somehow I doubt it.

he guarded malik hairston a sg for oregon.

He shut down Ager, too.

Another exciting Illinois Wisconsin matchup tonight! It should be a great game for what has become a nice rivalry over the last 3 years or so. Illinois knows that they only play Wiscy once and this is it so they will be fired up. Wisconsin just fell out fo the top 25 and will be eager to show their homecourt advantage still means something.

I don't think Wisconsin matches up well with Augustine and I don't think Illinois matches up well with Tucker. The matchup to watch is Chris Rock vs. Dee Brown.

My roomates (Illini alums) and myself (Badger) have been giving each other crap all week regarding this game. I'm pumped!

i think that randle will shut tucker down.

I would think that pretty unlikely. Especially considering the fact Weber said he was giving Randle a "Crash course in post defense." He's likely to get in foul trouble on the road anyway. If Tucker scores under 20 I'd consider it a job well done by Illinois.

you must be kidding.

Wow, take it easy. No offense was meant. I've seen every single one of Tucker's college games and this is how his game appears to me. If it appears differently to you, then that's fine by me, I don't care.

I was asking if you'd seen him play much becaue I didn't know. If I didn't see him play much, judging by his size that would be my impression of him as well.

it's a pet peeve of mine, that's all. i'm no definitive expert on college basketball, but i know enough about the BT, and wisco (being a current resident and all) to be offended when someone asks me that question.

tucker's just not a back-to-the-basket player. he's an inside-out guy, similar to roger powell, but with more skill and less power. he gets his points driving into the lane, shotting from mid-range, and exploiting mismatches down on the blocks. randle is not a mismatch.

i'm predicting 10 points from tucker tonight. if i'm wrong, i'll face up.

Sorry, if I came across snippy there. Wasn't my intent. I was just pumped about the game and wanted to talk some basketball.

I agree that he doesn't play excusively with his back to the basket but he does post up about as much as anyone else on the team. Then again, basketball isn't really my strong suit when it comes to sports. So I could be wrong.

10 points it is! If he scores under 20 then I'll come back and eat my crow as well. God, I hope it's not 10 points. That would be really really bad for Wisconsin's chances of winning.

Looks like you both lose!

well, randle didn't shut him down, but he DID play him to a virtual standstill, which canceled out his production.

as i've said before, strictly based on defense, the illini are at least a sweet sixteen team.

The relentless Bruce Weber knob-slobbing done by Musberger is making this game almost unwatchable.

why the hate on weber? it's not like he left KU for UI, is it?

all he's done is be much better than self, but so have a lot of coaches.

I will say this about weber, he hasnt proven to be a big time recruiter yet but he is probably one of the 5 best(in the nation) at coaching bb to his players. Now that he is landing some bigger recruits I would say look out for the Illini for years to come. So let dukeyv talk up the coach ks and williams, I am glad that the Big Ten has musberger to talk up Big Ten coaches.

About the biggest whinners in the Big Ten it has to be Davis by far. Remember last year when he came out on the court under the basket in the game against Purdue and wasnt even called for a technical foul. In reality though I think all head coaches in most sports play the officials, it is almost part of the job. I dont hold it against them but when you go as far as Davis did last year that was too much

that was bizarre, he started smacking himself in the face over and over. i know that he was doing it to imply that wright was fouled (which he wasn't, after watching replay), but the sight was something to behold.

Last night, start of the second half, Chappell (SP?) going at Augustine trying to draw his third foul by lower his shoulder and driving into him, Ryan was at his funniest. His gestures, antics and faces were hilarious; did he really expect fouls to be called on Augustine when it was so blatantly obvious Chappell was initiating the contact?

Eric Gordon the number 5 player in america says coach weber can recruit just fine. in fact about 15 spots better than self ever did at u of i.

Good gracious. Where did I say anything bad about Bruce Weber? I don't hate Bruce Weber. I hate Brent Musberger's one-note, tunnel-vision style of broadcasting. Okay, Brent, we get it. You love Bruce Weber. How about announcing the game.

nowhere, but bruce deserves the knob-slopping.

Since I'm exceptionally bored, and the Big 10 is just around the halfway point, I thought I'd re-do predictions for the standings.

The "Big Ten Wonk" has it about right.

That is to say, aside from their somewhat inefficient star player, no one wants the ball. (Inefficient in part, no doubt, because none of his teammates want the ball.)

Well, we both lose. Tucker was effective but didn't get 20. Pretty close though.

Wisconsin is in big trouble. A very disappointing game.

That reminds me of a Hey Arnold when he was on a basketball team and Tuckers dad was the coach. "Whatever you do...get the ball to Tucker!".

If we can go into the Breslin and win this conference race is over. Richard McBride was awesome tonight dalgreen.

You're right, McBride was awesome. I have no problem stating I was wrong when players show up who I thought wouldn't. These last two games have been the best that I've seen McBride play. Yeah, I know he was a role player for the last two seasons, but I don't know why it took him half the season before he decided to become more aggressive. He's also a much better defender this year. Great game by McBride. Props to Jamar Smith and Brian Randle, too.

As for James Augustine, why hasn't he figured out that when he's not on the floor due to foul trouble he kills us? It's not necessarily the number of fouls that ticks me off it's the kind of fouls that ticks me off. It's the unnecessary fouls. I'm just glad he wasn't called for his third (which it was an offensive foul) in the early part of the second half. All I know is we better be blowing teams out by the end of the game because if it comes down to FT shooting, we might be in trouble.

Bah, don't say Michigan will end up 8-8 in the Big 10. 18-9 (8-8) would put them on the bubble. I know their sked is hard, but I think they will get a signature road win, and win most of their home games (still undecided about Illinois game)

Keady is one of my favorites to watch get riled up. My best friend works for the company that does the stats for the Badger games and he sits right at the end of the scorers table next to the visitors bench and he said Keady dropped more f-bombs than anyother coach in the Big 10

James Augustine is the biggest waste of talent. Ten years from now most Illinois fans will say man he had a good career, but if he would have just shown up in the championship game who knows what would have happened. Last night he was dropping passes off of his legs and out of bounds. How can you be on the verge of having 1000 career points and rebounds and do that?
