anybody watch that highschool game on the duece tonite? i missed it, but supposedly two big recruits were playing, OSU's Oden and the junior shooting guard going to IL.

Oden had 33 points, 17 boards and 6 blocks. The announcers called him the best defensive (high school) center they've ever seen. The dude is 18 and looks about 25. There ought to be an investigation.

what was your impression of gordon? i should've taped it.

Slow start. They made some halftime adjustments and he started to score in the second half. His team is not on the same playing level as Lawrence North. I would like to see the 4 teams that are better than LN in the country since they are #5.

As far as Oden looking 25, not sure where that comes from. Is it because he is filled out more than most 18 year olds? He is at the school 2 hours before it starts working on his game and lifting weights. I had the chance to meet him the summer between his sophmore and junior seasons and everything the announcers were saying about him being grounded and well-mannered are correct. Unlike other high-schoolers with that much hype, he still treats everyone and still wants to be treated as an average guy.

Oden was certainly fantastic but, Gordon may have had the highlight of the night. On a break away by a Lawrence North G, he (Gordon) came flying in from the left to block the layup. His hand was near the top of the box, simply amazing!

Gordon also showed no fear of Oden, hit a couple of sweet floaters over him, even tried to jam one but, was fouled by Oden.

OSU moves to 4-2 in the conference.

PSU moves to all time leaders in missing layups and giving up long rebounds.

I'm wondering if there were more people there to root for the baskeball team or to do Pat Devlin chants and hold up Pat Devlin signs.

Stunning and embarrasing loss by Wisconsin. It's going to be pretty tough to recover from.

They took that team too lightly.

There is no way you lose to North Dakota State. If you don't beat them by at least 10 points its a godawful performance. Wisconsin should be ashamed of themselves.

I believe I heard once that losing to NDState at home is grounds for being removed from division 1 basketball.

Could be a rumor though.

Nice of the team not to try once again. Both teams sucked hard out there, though. So did the refs. Lots of sucking all around.

Nice of Vedran to wait until 38 minutes into the game to make a FG.

Illinois free throw shooting is going to cause them a quick tourney exit.

Yeah it is definately one of the teams weaknesses. That said we play defense pretty well and defense can keep you in any game and give you a shot.

Congrats to Marco. Big one tonight. IU is going to have to win a few tough road games to have a chance at the Big Ten title. Tonight will be a tough game for sure. Vaden and/or Ratliff are going to have to show up on the offensive end for them to win.

Very big game tonight. I'll be in Carver, hopefully we can get an atmosphere like we had for the Illinois game. As of yesterday there were still 2-3,000 tickets for sale which is sad.

Hopefully we can get Marco in foul trouble early. It's either that or just let him get his 25-30 and try to stop you guys from outside. We need to start shooting like we're capable or this season could get away from us in a hurry. You can only rely on your defense for so long before you have to actually make some shots.

I don't think that Hansen will be strong enough to contain Marco, but what about Brunner?..or Thomas..how are they defensively?

Use your brain, Davis...you've made your point. Put Killingsworth in the game NOW.

edit...Davis has no brain

14-0 Iowa run to start the 2nd half. No Marshall Strickland. The 7th different IU player to miss time this year.

fire the trainer!

UCLA has had 7 too (Hollins, Fey, Mata, Bozeman, Aboya, Shipp and Farmar).

Mike Davis is on his power trip. He better be carefull or he could cost himself his job with moves like this. Marco had an awful 1st half, but he has carried the team all year. He was awful in the 1st half against Illinois last Tuesday, but responded with 20+ points in the 2nd half. Davis needs to get off his high horse and get Marco in the game. It's amazing that the bench has gotten IU back into this one.

trainer? Fire Davis....They just called this a "scrappy" IU lineup. It's embarrassing. I didn't become an IU fan as a child to see this an adult. Put Killingsworth in the lineup. There is no excuse for throwing a game in order to make a point. This is Big Ten basketball.

Fiver's IU posts are hilarious.

I must say that I would like it if Iowa held on, for MSU's sake.

I'm accustomed to the Cubs disappointing me. IU has been my only glimmer of hope throughout the years.

Edit - I doubt IU would have won this game with Killingsworth in the game for those 10 minutes in the second half, but it went a bit far.

It's pretty tough to win on the road in the Big Ten this year...no doubt.
