PSU is 10-5, with wins over Cornell, Nicholls St., LIU Brooklyn, UMKC, St. Francis, IPFW, New Hampshire, Mt.St. Mary's, Northwestern and Purdue,

Haha, not exactly a who's who of perennial powerhouses here.

At least they didn't play the boys at Marathon Oil this year

I meant our big ten schedules. You know since you said they were even with us in the Big Ten. We have played the four best teams and PSU has beaten up on the other crap that lives at the bottom of the Big Ten.

For crying out loud, he doesn't think that PSU = Illinois, and somewhere in this thread or the other NCAAB thread he showed himself to be a fan of U of I.

Well then, I guess everyone is pretty indifferent about Michigan then. Damn I need more UM fans to come to this board....

I really like Michigan but I dispise Tommy Stabinthebacker.

Michigan is a good team, if they were better coached they wouldn't sweat some of these other lesser teams. That said they will probably make the tourny this year. Horton is a player. Pettway is an athlete. Sims is an enigma, he has the most complete post game imo in the big ten, yet doesn't dominate like he should.

as long as Jim Les is coach of the Braves, that team won't be going anywhere no matter who is on that team.

Oh so true.

Why don't they try and get Wayne McClain? They would get every peoria player they wanted.

As a State fan, it is my moral obligation...

No clue. It would make sense. Les is kind of their golden boy though. It might take a lot to get him fired. Especially the job he has done recruiting (Ruffin, O'Bryant, Franklin).

With regards to Michigan, I don't think it'll take 20 wins to make the tourney for them. Assuming the Big 10 finishes the season as the top or 2nd rated conference, 18 should do it, which leaves it as just winning all those games against the unranked teams, and then knock off one of the ranked teams. Puts them at 17 wins which should set them up with an easy 1st round matchup in the big 10 tourney for the 18th win.

18-11 in the best conference in the country with losses to only ranked teams seems good enough for me.

Michigan State just picked up two highly regarded wings for the '07 class, Allen(4 star) and Summers(5 star), to go along with top PG Kalin Lucas(5 star). Next year's class is strong as well, with three 4 stars(a wing, F, and a C).

You're right dal, they could win 6 games next year. They had a very young team last year with some solid recruits. I just don't expect it. I'll lay off of Zook. I think he's a great motivator, very good recruiter and a good position coach. I just think he's been in over his head and don't think he has the organizational skills, leadership or discipline required to be a big-time head coach.

Plus I've gotta give it to you for being a Big 10 man stuck in Big 12 country. That's not fun.

As another big ten fan it is fun this year during bball, the big 12 is horrible. But yeah during football it was rough and when Texas was as good as they were this year there isn't much you can say but agree.

anybody watch that highschool game on the duece tonite? i missed it, but supposedly two big recruits were playing, OSU's Oden and the junior shooting guard going to IL.

If that happened, their 2 best wins would be 1) Whichever ranked team they beat and 2) Miami, FL

However,

1. Ill

2. Ind

3. Wis

4. OSU

5. Iowa

6. MSU

7. Michigan

With the stregnth of the big 10, it will be easy to get 7 teams in, and I was worried about Minnesota until Big 10 play started.

Oden had 33 points, 17 boards and 6 blocks. The announcers called him the best defensive (high school) center they've ever seen. The dude is 18 and looks about 25. There ought to be an investigation.

Yeah fun in terms of bragging rights right now I guess.

But it would be awful to be stuck with all of that coverage of the Big 12, lack of coverage of the Big 10, and getting mostly Big 12 games on Saturday. Especially during football season.

Slow start. They made some halftime adjustments and he started to score in the second half. His team is not on the same playing level as Lawrence North. I would like to see the 4 teams that are better than LN in the country since they are #5.

As far as Oden looking 25, not sure where that comes from. Is it because he is filled out more than most 18 year olds? He is at the school 2 hours before it starts working on his game and lifting weights. I had the chance to meet him the summer between his sophmore and junior seasons and everything the announcers were saying about him being grounded and well-mannered are correct. Unlike other high-schoolers with that much hype, he still treats everyone and still wants to be treated as an average guy.

Oden was certainly fantastic but, Gordon may have had the highlight of the night. On a break away by a Lawrence North G, he (Gordon) came flying in from the left to block the layup. His hand was near the top of the box, simply amazing!

Gordon also showed no fear of Oden, hit a couple of sweet floaters over him, even tried to jam one but, was fouled by Oden.

Michigan state is laying the lumber to Iowa in East Lansing, up 21 at the under 16 timeout in the second half.

Ohio St. leads PSU by 5 at the half in Happy Valley.

Wisconsin is apparently without Butch, Stiesma, and Landry for the forseeable future, and is getting beat 30-16 at the half to North Dakota State in Madison.
