How does this improve the ballclub?

Give up your second ace, and the future OF of the team for a guy who's admittedly great, but very expensive?

Lateral moves are not gonna alter the direction this franchise is in.

if cubs can get Bedard and dont part with cedeno or hill in the deal i think its a great deal. Bedard is very good, and prior has had some problems. I think tejada makes this the most dangerous lineup behind the mets. Bedard's numbers in april and may were VERY good (6-1 2.18 era)... then he got tired down the stretch as he was over pitched a bit. Kinda like Zambrano in his first full season. Prior is gonna cost a boat load. Dont get me wrong, i love prior and i would hate to see him go, but i think this team is better with tejada, bedard for a combo of walker, prior, patterson and some prospects.

pierre

murton

lee

tejada

aramis

barrett

cedeno

jones

thats a pretty tough lineup...

zambrano

bedard 93 mph lefty

maddux

woody

hill

williams

rusch

and i love our bullpen top to bottom if novoa isn't part of it.

Dempster

Eyre

Howry

Wuertz

Williamson (could prove to be a steal)

hill/rusch

Prior is great, but i think the position player who plays everyday and plays almost every game each year, plus a pretty darn good replacement would be the way to go.

The only way I'm giving up Prior in a deal with the Orioles is if I'm getting back Miggy, Brian Roberts, Bedard, Mora, and Chris Ray... and they'd have to be picking up a few bad contracts on the way back out. *coughHowry,Neifi&Eyrecough*

Mark Prior's Career (Age 25):

IP- 613.1 H- 536 K-719 BB-195 ERA-3.24

This is after all the fluke injuries and (too) early comebacks.

Again, he is 25 years old.

Miguel Tejada's Career (Age 29):

.280/.338/.477/.815

What a horrible, horrible idea.

I would trade do the following deal incling Prior (while not making it complete fantasy)

Prior

Hill/Guzman

Murton

extra Bullpen arm

low level prospect

FOR

Tejada

Roberts

Mora

Bedard

A little cash

I take that back. Make it A lot of money plus another decent prospect.

The Cubs organization gets more and more depressing to me day by day. It is truly mind-boggling. It's to the point that I don't really enjly reading the treads on nsbb.

Well I wouldn't blame the Cubs organization for Ken Rosenthals baseless rumors. But if they did this, I would be done being a Cubs fan.

If RosenD'uh has some truth to this....and that the Cubs are considering a Prior for Tejada deal, then a couple of things will happen....the Cubs WILL get Bedard with Tejada. Baltimore ain't getting BOTH Prior and Pie, and expec the Cubs to eat the contract of Tejada's. If the Cubs have to eat the entire contract then my guess would by Tejada/Bedard/Narkakis (sp?) prospect for Prior/Pie.

The other thing that comes out of this is that the Cubs may be nearing a deal for a pitcher in the Millwood, Zito, Weaver mold.

This deal isn't as bad as some think, but the Cubs needs to get more the a very GOOD, EXPENSIVE SS, for reasonably cheap young pitcher.

If this deal became:

Red Sox get- Murton and Pie

Orioles get-Cedeno and Prior

Cubs get- Ramirez and Tejada

Then I might consider it, only because.....

Pierre

Walker

Lee

Ramirez

Ramirez

Tejada

Jones

Barrett

would make the mets lineup look like the royals'.

We could give Hill a shot in the rotation and Guzman a shot in the summer, ending up with:

Zambrano

Wood

Guzman

Hill

Maddux

Most likely it's all BS, anyway.

The first paragraph says that the Orioles are unwilling to include Bedard, and the Cubs are unwilling to include Pie.

As good as Tejada is... trading Prior is not the way for the Cubs to get anywhere. That's asinine to even consider trading him. If I were a Cards fan, I would consider Zambrano and Prior untouchable...

What if the O's were willing to include Bedard, assuming the Cubs would throw in Pie? Would you do that, Cub fans?

I think that Bedard is a safer bet than Pie (given he was successful), and he has gotten his feet wet... If I were a Cub fan I would really have to think long and hard 'bout that one.

Sadly, at this point, I expect the Chubbs to deal Prior. Why not? It's not like they have any clue at all? Prior is inexpensive and extremely valuable, with his best years ahead of him. Why not trade him? GUH.

Prior and Zambrano. My untouchables.

I wouldn't say Prior is "inexpensive." He made $3.55 in 2005, and will no-doubt exercise his right to accept arby sooner rather then later. So Prior, IN ESSENCE, is about to become very EXENSIVE, very quickly. Hence the reason, why the Cubs didn't instantly nec. say no to a Abreu for Prior deal, and the reason why Prior's name has popped in Tejada talks.

So the question is....who is more desparate for what: the Cubs for more offense or the Orioles for more pitching?
