  1. They must have a heck of a running game and defense.
  2. Will you guys win 6 in the SEC? I think so, but I'm not certain. We won 8 last year against better competition and with a lesser team, so I'm gonna say that it's likely. Eh the few SEC previews I've read don't have your talent as any better this season, but the 12-0 start likely says otherwise. The SEC is definitely down compared to last year. 10-6 will lock you into the field, and 9-7 should have you pretty safe too. Looking like a pretty safe bet for a tourney spot right now. You'll be 13-0 entering SEC season, and it's really tough to keep a team out with 22 wins. Short of an SEC collapse, Ole Miss is a tourney team. I'm not so sure that is true anymore. Syracuse had over 20 wins and were 10-6 in the BE and didn't get in. I think a lot depends on the midmajors and how much weight they get. IMO, they are getting and deserving more and more and are making it tougher for the bigger conference teams with 20W's to get in, especially those who don't play a tough non conference schedule. You guys got screwed though. Vitale was busy blasting you at every turn for not playing any road games in the preconference. Then he would turn around and applaud Coach K for his coaching job last year. Yet they never left the state of Carolina till there conference started. I think we did too and the double standard wasn't lost on me either. I think it's because Vitale is a just a tad too Duke, just a guess though. I think it's strange how the "committee" puts so much weight into away games while in football they completely ignore it.

  4. I hear that Lockhart is talking to WV about their Head coaching position. He'd be a nice fit there.
  5. Mitchell has a HGH stained dress that McNamee wore while shooting HGH into Clemens.
  6. He's like the cheese of the month, it's the gift that just keeps on giving.
  7. I can't believe how long they have been able to do this. I love watching them play and I can't wait for ESPN to get hockey back so I can see them more often.
  8. Boy do I hope UCLA meets Texas in the tourney. EJ, UMFan...bring it. UCLA @ Michigan Saturday morning. They're not around right now, they're in the middle of negotiations with the WVU womans basketball coach.
  9. So you would rather have a hitter K with a man on third than hit a deep fly ball to the OF with 1 out? I understand what you're saying but an out isn't an out straight across the line. Yes, Cuse, that's exactly what I said. By writing that I believe in the out is an out theory, I was really saying that with a man on 3rd and less than 2 outs I would prefer a strikeout to a deep fly ball to the OF. What were you saying then? I think that's obvious. What I'd like to know is why you purposefully and obnoxiously added an obviously baseless "so you would rather" assumption into your response when nowhere in my post did I come anywhere close to even suggesting I would prefer a k to a deep fly in that situation. I didn't mean for it to sound so challenging, I just was asking for clarification of what you meant.
  10. So you would rather have a hitter K with a man on third than hit a deep fly ball to the OF with 1 out? I understand what you're saying but an out isn't an out straight across the line. Obviously not, but when is this "choice" going to come up? You can't base player personnel decisions on these types of situation, because by and large, hitters aren't coming up in these situations. I can bring up a choice of hypotheticals like this too, where the K would be the far preferable result. I never said the batter has a choice. I was merely saying that one out isn't the same as another. As for striking out, of course it's better than a DP. Just throwing out a statement that an out is an out is incorrect, they have different impacts/results. 9 times out of 10 all outs are the same. An everyday player gets 650 plate appearances each year. A minimal amount of those come in situations where a strikeout is worse than any other out. So basically you're going by a whole season of AB's and not a game by game breakdown? My question to you raw is what if there is a runner at third and less than 2 outs, when does it balance out better for the contact hitter over one that strikes out frequently? I understand the percentages playing out over time.

  14. Heck, some players get 6 years. Jon Beutjer got about 9. Luke Recker like 14. Re: WVU: That doesn't even seem legal. No it doesn't but I'm sure some schools football players don't even have textbooks. Or even have to take tests. http://www.osu.edu/images/osu_logo.png I'm surprised that the NCAA doesn't send an employee to a school to look if they are skirting rules in this regard. Have some guy around 22 or so pose as a student and observe what's going on regarding the student athletes.
  15. Boras could have also taken the hit for ARod.
  16. Yeah, I agree. I suppose if there's a lot of competition for him it might up the ante and I'd like to see him remain healthy for a whole year myself! You being a Bear fan, would you give up a 2nd and 5th round pick for him?
  17. Come on abuck, you can do better than that.
  18. Man, I'd love to get him without giving up Hill. That would be a nasty rotation 1-4. Left handed heavy, but yes, it would be dominating. I don't really care what hand a guy throws with. I don't care if he throws with his foot. Just as long as he can get people out. If Bedard is good against both, left and right I see no reason why it would make a difference. Does anyone know the balance L/R hitting wise in the AL East compared to the NL Central?
  19. What kind of haul could McNabb bring Philly? If the Eagles do trade him, what do you think they could get for him?
  20. He had even worse numbers last year in winter league before they "messed with his swing". .216/.263/.296 to be exact. I don't think you can nail down messing with his swing as the one cause of his struggles. I'd love to see the drills the Cubs use to teach pitch recognition.
  21. I wish he didn't hurt his knee because he was in a very good groove.
  22. Isn't that exactly what Sosa said and Rick Reilly called him on it? Rick Reily's an ass and for Sosa to pee in a cup would have killed the player's union. Of all the misplaced anger at Sosa over stupid issues, the "he didn't pee in a cup when prompted to by a douchebag guy pretending to be a journalist" might be my most hated. I've never been a Reilly fan but Sosa did say the same thing as Tejada did. I agree, no way in earth could Sammy have done that without getting beat up by the Union.
  23. Or know something about Bedard. Didn't the Cubs have a problem with the O's before regarding an injured player in the Sosa deal? Dave Crouthers retired before he threw a pitch for the Cubs. I dont' remember if it was injury related or what, but I don't think the Cubs really cared much. I thought they complained to MLB about it? I don't think they made anything out of it other than that though.
  24. Isn't that exactly what Sosa said and Rick Reilly called him on it?
  25. I've already admitted I was wrong. Don't ask me why this is continuing.
