    Who do you think is the best all around player to ever play the game? Willie Mays, Joe Damaggio, ARod? How good was Ruth in right or Lou G at first? Could they run the bases well? I'm leaning towards Mays myself but ARod is giving him a close fight imo. Oh yeah, Clemente too.

    Petitte has enough money unlike the nanny and congress to tell or go after the truth. I wonder how much money Clemens has given to the republican party and how much of an influence Bush was in this debacle.

    From Jim Callis at BA: Do you think that Beckham will stick at SS? This logic that Callis is using would work if Beckham could stay at SS but don't a lot of guys like that get moved anyways? So, if he does get moved, will he still be a better player than Alvarez?

    McCain's age worries me. I'd like to know who his VP is going to be.

    I hope they match up well with their first round opponent this year. I'd like to see them get into a nice groove during that first round and keep it going throughout the playoffs.

    Pie would really have to suck for Payton to be a viable fall back plan. PECOTA projects an OPS for .697 for Payton. I just have a really bad feeling Pie's not going to hit. I think it is important to have realistic expectations of how he'll preform. I think it is realistic to expect a league average CF production from Pie with well above league average fielding. To me the problem is not putting Pie in CF it is that the Cubs don't have a strong enough team to let a talented young CF learn to be a major league player. They need Pie to produce. What is league average offense for a CF? My fear is that he'll be terrible, like .220/.283 kind of terrible. I know, I need to have more faith :cool: .272/.337/.420. If Pie does that, the Cubs will have an above average offense next year, and possibly a top 5 offense. 7 of their 8 positions will be average or better, with a few of them having the potential to be significantly above. If Pie does that I'd be overjoyed. Heck, I'll buy CCP a 6 pack of Colt 45's if he does!

    Nothing like kicking a man when he's down, why wasn't this written in 98 or 01? I've never really been a big Sammy fan but when he was up there was always a chance for the ball to leave the park and that was quite exciting and productive for the team.

    Dusty will convince Krivsky that it's a good trade for them and those 3 "youngins" won't ever perform as well as the veterans. To be fair, if the Cubs had position prospects like Bruce or Votto when Dusty was around they probably would have played. Probably but I do wonder if he would have ever played Soto over Kendall. I don't think he would have.

    IMO...if the O's really want to do the right thing and rebuild, I see no reason why they would want Marquis.

    Maybe they will trade Peralta to San Diego. Thereby allowing San Diego to trade Greene to the Cubs. I want to wait for the Roberts deal to go through first! :tease:

    At least Payton can play CF which Monroe could not, well...not well. I feel better about him since Lou is in charge, if it were Dusty, I'd say a big no to that idea.

    Do you have any insider word on this? Nudge, nudge... Sorry, but I just read what is being posted on all the "websites" whether it be NSBB, Cubs.com or OH. I wanna say that I thought it was stated in a Chicago paper months ago that Piniella had made a statement as to how much he likes Roberts. To be honest if you just saw the trade they completed with Seattle for Bedard for five players that the O's are going to ask for more since Roberts is Angelos favorite. ;) And I hope Hendry doesn't give in like Seattle did. If he (Hendry) is obsessed with Roberts, this may be a problem.

    I like the Blue Jays because they are the parent to the Syracuse AAA team but when the Cubs and Jays played I had no problems rooting for the Cubs, rooting for the Jays in that game were not even part of the equation. I've heard rumors that the Mets are going to be the next parent team and that would be tough for me to root for the SkyChiefs if it does happen.
