  1. This is the best post I've seen in a long time. So instead of the "Boys of Summer" they would be the "Boys of Brazil". For the 7th inning stretch the Cubs could play "Spring Time for Hitler". Then, the earth is destroyed after the Cubs win the World Series.
  2. It's the trade that wouldn't end. It just went on and on my friend. Some people started trading not knowing what it was was but they'll just continue trading it just because it's the trade that doesn't end. It just goes on and on my friend......
  3. If the Roberts deal happens, DeRosa becomes the #1 option to play SS, IMO. Probably the weakest of the 3 defensively, but the big boost on offense makes it a no brainer for me, especially considering none of them sparkle on defense. If the Cubs don't acquire a SS I'd like to see "Mr. Sparkle" DeRosa get a shot in the spring.
  4. Plus Theriot brings a lot more to the table than Cedeno. 10x better plate discipline. Umm, Theriot led the team in 1 pitch outs. Which player faced more pitches per AB? Cedeno. P/PA: Cedeno: 3.68 Theriot: 3.53 Theriot is a very patient hitter, one of the only few on the Cubs. It's just when he swung at a ball, he didn't miss it often like most of the other Cubs, so his pitches per at bat were less. Seriously, are you actually saying these things? This has to be a joke. It's a failure to really understand what these numbers really say. The reason Theriot gets so many first pitch meatball pitches to swing at is because pitcher's aren't afraid of what Theriot might do to the ball when served a meatball. In fact, no other player on the Cubs does less with a meatball than Theriot. That first pitch fastball might be his best chance to drive a ball, much like his 2-0 and 3-1 counts. He may not do it well but it does seem like he he's doing what he suppose to be doing. I'm curious on how many swings and misses he has compared to Cedeno, along with balls put in play per swing. Cedeno did a nice job of fouling off 2 strike pitches the few times I saw him but I don't know his breakdown of his actual stats.
  5. You and me both. Don't forget to wear your glasses, nose and mustache costume so nobody knows who you are.
  6. He was dealing with injuries in both 2004 (leg) and 2007 (elbow). Thanks. I hope the elbow has healed completely.
  7. Will they be outside or do they a big inside facility? We can't get out until the 3rd week of March at the earliest.
  8. Wow....Syracuse has lost 2 starters to injury, lost a previous starter to grades, one back up for the season and just suspended another starter and we're down to 7 scholarship players. What a tough year so far.
  9. That's selling the level of play across the Pacific short. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=1330 Clay also addresses the size of Japanese ballparks in that article. Also, wasn't Fukudome's home park one of the most pitcher friendly parks in the entire country? That might explain all the triples.
  10. He never really seemed to be a get along with the press guy to me. He put up with them but he seems to be slightly uncomfortable dealing with them in situations like this. I don't think what he said was that big of a deal.
  11. If I could be outside I would, believe me. Where are you going in 3 weeks?

  13. We're doing hitting drills 5 days a week, come on out here if you're anxious for some baseball!
  14. So you would look at the inside as well? Was he playing injured in 2007 or did the injury put him out right away?
  15. Does Seattle need a second baseman? Maybe Roberts is going there too depending on who the Mariners give up.
  16. Be very afraid. Robles is a speedy, lefty hitting 2b. Shut up, shut up, shut up!!! *Plugs ears* I can't hear you!!!! You have to hum or sing loudly while plugging your ears to stop this from happening.
  17. There's no arguably about it. At Minnesota is the only Big 10 game IU should have been challeneged in. UConn's easily one of the top-two teams IU has played this year, along with Xavier. However, that's just how the Big Ten schedule broke; IU hasn't played Michigan State, Wisconsin, Ohio State or Purdue yet.* The conference slate gets tough starting next Thursday at Wisconsin. Though at Minnesota (#46 Sagarin) is a solid win. UConn is a difficult matchup for IU with their size. I'm very concerned about this game. As Raw said, IU did win at UConn last year, but both teams have improved. If IU isn't hitting outside shots, this could be a very difficult game. *Edit: I don't mean to imply that UConn isn't better than Purdue or perhaps Ohio State. Just pointing out that of the likely top-5 Big Ten teams outside of IU, the Hoosiers have played only one. Interesting stat about UConn. They have led the nation in blocked shots for the last 4 or 5 years. I don't think another team has led a category like that for that amount of years, ever.
  18. I'm sure if you played in sandals they'd move you to first too.
  19. So, has this thread made you like or dislike Mr. Roberts more than you did before?
  20. I would have thought the game against us was your worst of the year. That is two subpar efforts in a row. They have struggled but I like it when a team isn't playing their best and still find a way to win. And on the best team, imo it's Memphis.
  21. Heck no! You crazy? Now we can trade Hill for another free swinger and move Dempster up to the 3. After reading your post all I could think of is Hendry dressed like Austin Powers, walking down a street looking for free swingers. nice visual. Ya, it'll haunt my dreams.

  23. He's a solid coach fiver. He was up for the Pitt job when Big Dave got it instead and I think it was time for him to move. His D stuffed WV.
  24. I try to get out of this thread but they just pull me right in.
  25. I agree but he's kind of beat up and I'm sure he doesn't want to take a chance to get hurt even more.
