  1. Well, that's not really the point. I would say, that to an awful lot of people posting here that legwork should not have been necessary. A lot of people considered your position ridiculous, and they were all correct. Maybe they were correct by coincidence, or 'for the wrong reasons' or something, but they were right. The difference being that IMB put out proof while many others put out an opinion just like I did. Didn't you find the legwork beneficial? I did. When someone says "It's because you hate Prior", right there they are giving an opinion which is wrong, I don't hate the man. I would have loved to see him pitch and be successful for the Cubs. Someone sees that sound bite and then they use that as fact when it's not. Imagine the arrogance of someone telling you what you do and don't think? That's when just being right is all that matters to them instead of finding the right answer. Also, when someone posts that I said Prior is a "head case", what is that suppose to mean? I never once said he was a head case but yet the sound bites continue. I simply said he seemed to struggle when he is getting scored on and giving up 4 or more runs and abucks only statistic proof was how well Prior pitched with men on base, which is not what I said. So as I said, IMB proved me wrong.
  2. You keep thinking that. So, is it your position after all this that you were, in fact, not wrong? My position is that IMB did all his leg work.
  3. what? Look at the way Kerry handled himself while rehabbing - and once he was healthy again. IMO - Mark's a jerk. Have you met Mark? I have. I don't think it's much of a stretch to call him a jerk. I just don't think that he deserves any venom for it. He's not malicious, he's just not a people person. Yup...that was my experience as well when I met him a couple years ago. He's just not a very, umm, "warm" person, at least towards those he doesn't know. Hard to blame the guy. He's been in the spotlight since his early teen years, so I'm sure he's had plenty of posers around. I don't feel a great loss now that it appears certain he's gone; as others have said, 2003 was a long time ago; we need to move on.... Guess I had a different experience when I met him, but then again my friend was a classmate of his at USC. I think a lot of players that might be shy come off that way. I don't have the numbers to prove it though.
  4. Not really. it was a lot more proof than you had to support your claim. Not really. yes, really. you didn't have anything besides "i'm a high school baseball coach." not that it really matters who had more support since, in the end, i was right. No, IMB was right. He said in one post what you couldn't in 15-25. i said you were wrong. you were wrong. therefore, i was right. imb did show his work, however. You keep thinking that.

  6. I'd really like to see the Cubs have 7 solid hitters and Pie. This would let him prove he belongs or doesn't for 2008 and keeps the pressure off him and Lou could play him everday.
  7. Fixed?????? Patterson is one of the best CF's for a 2 year stint or more, if not thee best, the Cubs have had since I've followed them. That does say something of the hole at that position they've had but still, the ones before have really been below average.
  8. Not really. it was a lot more proof than you had to support your claim. Not really.
  9. Or know something about Bedard. Didn't the Cubs have a problem with the O's before regarding an injured player in the Sosa deal?
  10. Heck, some players get 6 years. Jon Beutjer got about 9. Luke Recker like 14. Re: WVU: That doesn't even seem legal. No it doesn't but I'm sure some schools football players don't even have textbooks.
  11. Not really.

  13. actually, within about five minutes i posted prior's batting average against with runners on base vs. with the bases empty. since cuse's original comment was the prior faded after giving up baserunners, i'd say that refuted his position (that's not to take away from imb's great work, by the way). but, whatever, cuse = isaac newton, and i think the world's a better place now. No, I said when Prior was getting hit hard he struggled with failure. I never said one hit or when runners were on base.
  14. why would he feel any obligation not to go to the team he feels he fits best? why is it classless to go elsewhere in the division? It's a slap in the face to the Cubs fans that idolized him. You know the people that paid for the tickets, bought his jersey, etc. The city of Chicago and Cubs fans made him rich - and we've been waiting (and paying) for a long time for him to get healthy. If he wanted to repay a little bit of what he's been given by all of us he could have taken a two-year incentive laden deal. How about a little loyalty? If he comes back in the 2nd half of 08 pitching for another team in the same division it only magnifies things. Take your smug expressions and get out of town Mark. It's times like this that I'd really like to ignore the board rules and regulations, or just get myself banned from this website. But I'm trying Ringo, I'm trying really hard............................... That's why we love ya you big lug!
  15. Honestly, who cares who's right as long as the information was found and we have an answer. IMB did a wonderful job and dug up a lot of information for us to look at which I appreciate. I don't understand why being the one that's right is more important than finding the right answer.
  16. I have a feeling Lilly's dropoff is going to be more significant than Haren's. I'm hoping that Larry found something that helped Lilly even though Rothschild does seem to help the K type pitchers more. Didn't Bobskeeper have a stat that showed how "lucky" pitchers were?
  17. His groundball to flyball ratio was 1.58 last year - 1.28 in his career. I think the A's are busting their team up, gathering prospects with high ceilings and playing for 2010. Blanton is first year arbitration eligible - his salary could go from $400K to $3M. But he will be under control for 3 seasons. Beane could probably get a good package of prospects for him. I'd trade 3 prospects for him. Is there that much of a difference between Silva and Blanton? I'm curious if it would be better to just sign Silva instead of losing the prospects (depending on the prospects)? You know the budget better than I do.
  18. If you are referring to McNamee, he followed Clemens from Toronto. The Yankees hired him at Clemens request. Awesome. Is anyone else starting to smell rotten eggs when Gammons opens his mouth ranting about how McNamee is a "gutter rat" or whatever, when it was Clemens who pulled the guy all across North America with him. Hey Peter -- shut the hell up, thanks. That's the thing to me, the guys that talked are the ones that impacted the teams they dealt with. A lot of teams skated away from this due to this and Rog and Canseco are the guys that effected the teams they played on steroid/HGH wise. I wonder if the Canadian tax payers got to pay for the Rockets HGH? You have to love a National Health plan.
  19. Just a gut call, but I really don't want 3 lefties in the rotation. I'd rather have the Cubs pursue Blanton - he'd be under team control for 3 seasons. I know he has very good control Hoops, is he a flyball or groundball type pitcher? Why would the A's want to trade him after they already traded Haren and have him under control for 3 years?
  20. Unless the O's are really thrilled with what they received from the Astros for Tejada. I doubt they are that impressed with them to omit having Hill in a trade though, we can wish.
  21. So your point brings up another point. If this is possible, how many Dominicans do you think may have done the same as Sammy (if true). Players like Ortiz and Manny could easily have done the same thing and gotten away with it. And how dumb does that make Miguel Tejada look? That might just be an A's/Conseco thing. I think if a lot of players played for the Yanks or A's they would have had a bigger chance of being mentioned. Just curious as to why Yankeee players had a higher chance to be mentioned in your opinion. Didn't they have the guys from the inside (Mets too) that that gave the info to Mitchell?
  22. I'm sure they'll be in fine hands and give WVU a chance to see if an assistant can do the job. Congrats to Michigan in getting a heck of a coach. I hope WV is getting the 4 for the buyout unlike the time they settled for 1.5 and not 2.5 from the hoops coach leaving.

  24. Very well put. It's probably not his best stuff or other circumstances but you're right, by those numbers he didn't completely fall apart.
